If Combadia was real independant country, Cambodia could compare to the most advanced cuontry in asia, because of the richness natural resources. Today, those natural resource is corrupted by Hun Sen regime which create the poorvety all over the country. Moreover, this regime robs people land.

As I mentioned previously, the excluding of some of Cambodia's brightest sons and daughters from actively taking part in the national governing process is indicative of the anti-intellectualism that marks the country's post-KR era.

This exclusion is all the more tragic and unnecessary in light of the bleak KR legacy.

There are other talented and skilled overseas Khmers who have returned to their native country and have made their due contributions to the nation's rebuilding. But sadly, and all too sadly, even the most earnest among these individuals (there are, at the same time, many opportunists who take to the existing system like ducks to water!) are made to feel the limits and restraining mechanisms of this anti-intellectualism by one means or another, in particular, where their participation or involvement, if and when affected, would only enhance or improve the general quality of national life.

This anti-intellectual culture had been one of the factors that led to the eruptions of violent movements in the previous decades of national destruction and loss, and unless a new course of history is chartered, the nation could yet return to square one or another Year Zero.
