Thai food psy-ops [Cambodian soldiers begging for food from Thai soldiers?]

Thai army chips at hungry foes' morale withgrilled chicken and minced pork

The border showdown between Thai and Cambodian troops has eased in recent weeks. Soldiers on both sides of the disputed terrain remain locked in a staring contest. Only occasionally do shoot-outs and shelling punctuate the bouts of dull downtime.

But, according to the Bangkok Post's senior military reporter, Thai troops have found a non-violent means of pecking away at the Cambodian rivals' morale. They're feeding them.

Noting the Cambodians' meager food rations -- typically just sardines and sticky rice -- Thai officers occasionally welcome across the divide to a Thai-style lunch: grilled chicken, colaand laab mu, a chili-sprinkled minced pork dish.

"Our soldiers share their food such as canned fish and snacks, particularly doughnuts," reporter Wassana Nanuam quotes a colonel as saying. "Some Cambodian soldiers have never eaten doughnuts before."

I suppose it's harder to shoot a man who's offered you doughnuts.

But we should remember that this account of culinary psy-ops only offers the Thai-side view. The Cambodian troops, many hardened from the brutal Khmer Rogue era, could just as easily accuse the Thais of confusing a military stand-off with a picnic.

Still, if I was deployed to a grinding border showdown with no end in sight, I'd rather be on the side with the minced pork than the one handing out dried fish.

Please do not fall into the trap of the journalist especially the Thai one. One should consider it irrelevant since it is simply a corrupted propaganda of the shameful Thai culture. I don't even think Bangkok post is a news but a sarcastic and personal propaganda of anti-Khmer sentiment. I would say ethically, Phnom Penh Post is much more professional with accurate and respectful report.

Concerning the stinky doughnuts, Thai are known to be the heaven of prostitution of Southeast Asia. They think that by eating the greasy high-fatted Yanky food make them Western. Big stock of laugh. They are proud to eat McDonald, Doughnuts, and those fast-food cultured which in the West are considered to be polluted and unhealthy. What a shame! I swear to you that the banana-floured fried cake made by my khmer village tast better and healthy than those stinky doughnuts American shit!

I don't think they like doughnut then their homemade culinary. Thai posts are just scrap and everybody know that. They would blow off the head of the man who give them doughnuts since it is a disgusting shit!

Sardines and sticky rice are much healthier. I agree. Cambodia don't have medicine to treat obest people? Don't let the taste buds deceive you.

Yes, Cambodians are living under poverty. We are living in lack of education, social disorder and mental retaliation on whoever been doing bad to them. Soon, or later Cambodia will bring justice, and whoever think they are doing the right things for Cambodia will face consequences on their behave. For exsample, Hok Long Di, the most cruelty person I never met. The rest of these people will soon and later get their prosecution through the international court of law. PEACE CAMBODIA.

R.I.P who were fighting for the better reconstruction, development of Cambodia.

That pig's head looks like siamese king boom-mi-bull.

When you preach about unhealthy food to someone who has plenty to eat, you will receive appreciation.

But it is nonsense to talk about health food to the one who just eat to survive.
I have seen your soldiers eat rats, cats, dogs, snakes and even centipedes.
Unfortunately some Khmer soldiers died from eating wild mushrooms.

Please make your comments with sensible and productive reason.

One of my friends who has been fighting there told me that the Thai soldiers have been replaced from time to time but our Khmer soldiers just have to be there all the time. and another source told me that in the list we have 100.000 soldiers but in real number we have only around 30,000.

Please don't believe me neither my friends but do your own research or question the government directly.

Bangcock Post is the Siem government propaganda machine!

I don't give a fuck if the Siem want to give me donut or minced pork and even if my own brother wearing an enemy uniform who dare to enter the Cambodian territory illegally and I will kill the enemy in heart beat!

During the Khmer Rouge I have eaten snakes, rat, lizards, crickets, ants, fishes...just to survive now and I certainly can do without the donut and pork minced! Ahhahahhah

By the way to all those stupid Cambodian soldiers who dare eat the Siem food because when the Siem soldiers enter Cambodian territory to give their food and the Siem soldiers will lock in their GPS location on Cambodian military position and the next round of conflict all Cambodian soldiers’ life will be in danger!

The Siem will give you food but they will take your life later on!

Anonymous said...

yes, yes, I agreed again, be careful with Siam 's GPS - they will take our soldiers life.

don't be friend, with them again...
with those Stupid Khmer Surin's soldiers

Siam foods are a lot healthier than Viet' s which full of chemicals like dried salty fish. Flies would not want to go near those dried fishes, they would be dead on the spot because Viet use Entrine for every thing including Wines.Except BANH xeo (6:07AM)in Nambodia is safe to eat.

And all Khmer soldiers remember not to bite the hands that feed you and turn your guns to the all thieves Viets i n Cambodia.

Anonymous said...

Who would have thought the Siem can use their food to kill Cambodian soldiers?

And for 12:09PM the above comment and if your dumb ass doesn't like the Viet food and you can eat the Siem food for yourself and you don‘t need to convince other!

Siem food = Viet food!

High content of sodium, sugar, monosodium glutamate...please check the expiration date before you eat! I recommend you don't eat none of the Siem and the Viet food because it is not better than making your own food where you have total control over the ingredient such as salt, sugar, and the amount of meat and fresh vegetable!

This is total Thai propaganda bullshit. We know that some the frontline Cambodian soldiers in that region are poor, but they never go begging for food. In most cases, the Cambodian and Thai soldiers share and exchange foods. Thai soldiers give Khmer soldiers food and Khmer soldiers give Thai soldiers food when they have downtime and play cards or joke with each other.

The way this article is written is that it makes the Thai people look down on Khmer people. This is more reason why ah kwak yuon pleur hun sen needs to reorganize the Cambodian army. Makes sure everyone WEARS THE SAME TYPE OF UNIFORMS, HAVE COMBAT BOOTS, HAVE ADEQUATE EQUIPMENT, AND ARE WELL FED.

These Preah Vihear province frontline soldiers (not the ones from Phnom Penh or the special forces or the military police) were former Khmer Rouge who fought against hun sen's army in the 80's and early 90's and now they are fighting for hun sen.
