A long process of reconstruction, following genocide and years of instability and civil war, has resulted in substantial progress in Cambodia’s education system. Almost all children are now entering school, and far more than before are completing primary. The gender gap in primary and lower secondary has effectively been closed. The rate of improvement has been most notable among girls, in rural and remote areas and among lower income quintiles.
Reconstruction in Cambodia was initially characterised by high levels of political conflict and fragility. Since then, the government has worked with development partners to create more functional and effective sector-wide administration and planning, paired with expanded supply-side investments. Several highly innovative local and international NGOs have worked with the most marginalised to improve the quality and relevance of education, fostering community participation and social capital to expand access to the poorest. Education NGOs are now also more integrated into sector planning.
High levels of corruption and low institutional capacity constrain further progress in education. Dropout rates remain high, and low levels of education quality need to be addressed. Meanwhile, efforts to improve incentive structures in educational governance are progressing only gradually. Achieving the MDGs and Education for All (EFA) goals will require substantial further reforms.

All khmer children must try to study and learn as much as possible to fullfill both their dreams and the dream of how to rebuild the country/nation into a better place to live in, e.g. just like in the west. If Hun Sen is smart he should include all khmer professionals from across the glob to help to rebuild our country and nation ASAP. In life if Khmer don't love khmer, no one in the world will!.
The best way to do is to employ certain foreigners to come into the country and teach our children/people rather than sending only a few to the west, for having said that I still appreciate what the USA is doing for us right now. But in additions, khmer people can benefit more if we can create a system to benefit to all our children at home not just a few privilege one.
There should be a school call 'school of international languages such as French, English, USSR, Japanese, Chinese, Philippines, etc. There should be a time table just like buying a ticket to see a move which has its own terminal etc. All costs should be able to be subsides by the gov't. The gov't can pay these foreign lecturers by salary (e.g. $50 000pa) etc. This way all children can benefit from it all or otherwise allow the lecturers to create a CD along with their reading for children to learn or create a DVD in their own language and let the children sing or speak along etc.
There are many ways in which we can influence our children with going through too much of the separation etc. Only we all need right now is to think wisely, everything can be possible and in which doesn't have to cost to much individual. In other words think smarter, innovation and production online.
