Hun Sen Government received more than a billion dollar in aid last year, every year. Last year, Australian Government send over $64 million in aid, how much did your family get?
Every year, Hun Sen keeps telling the world how great Cambodia is, or Siem Riep as one of the most beautiful city in the world or our Phnom Penh sky city compared to other countries, yet fails to address the country's problem and growing concern, such as the land eviction, growing death on the road, growing corruptions, death threats and bribery, abusing human rights and the line between rich and poor.

Since the late 80s, we (overseas Khmer) have been sending millions of dollars to our families and relatives in Khmer. It’s has been 30 years since Hun Sen has been in power, yet Hun Sen and his CPP comrades has never once thanked us on national television for our contributions, often labeling us as Khmer abroad who knows nothing, or traitors, and many of us as "Talking shit about our country".
We overseas Khmer, love our Khmer country, love our Khmer people, and love our family. By continuing to do what we do, we're NOT only helping our families to survive but also help to PROLONG their misery and Hun SEN ruling.
The stupid part is that majority of our families and relatives who are suffering continue to vote for CPP Party every National Election, since Pol Pot Regime. What does Hun Sen and his comrades do with over a billions dollars in aid every year? Why are there so many BANKS in Khmer, Why do the transfer fee continue to raise, who owns all those BANK and branches?
Next time you send Khmer money or before asking for money ask yourself questions or ask your families these questions.

i think donors country who gives aid to cambodia should be transparent and accountable themselves on the the aid they granted in the name of humanitarian assistance to cambodia. this way, we can see where the money or aid is going to what cause, etc, etc... can't just blame on cambodian gov't like this. people don't understand where all this money going, even though it is coming to cambodia. it is australia's responsibility to keep a transparency record of the aid money. this way people can pull out th record and see and share with our concerned citizens, etc... can't just use that to blame all on cambodian gov't because look around cambodia, the country did improve or change or reform tremendously. can't let the politicians accuse one another like this with concrete evident of corruption, etc, ok! not being fair to the gov't, you know!
does the aid money go to the various NGOs in the country, or dose it go directly to the gov't accounts, etc? got to be inquisitive about it, you know!

Hahhhahaaa......man this is known as the Khmer mentality syndrome - the don't care mentality of the future for their childrens children as long as they can beg and live. The problem is not Hun Sen, it's the people that continue to vote and keep him in power because they see nothing wrong. They only start to see it went the bulldozers come in and demolish their houses and flood their front yard in order to evict them from the land, then they cry for help. Otherwise live goes on as usual for these people.....they can't see far and a bigger picture. The Cambodian people failed to see that they are the power NOT Hun Sen.
The illusion of power...
Not all government aid were in monetary method. Either in services or some sort of supports or could be materials to improve the living condition or the government ministries.

I agree somewhat with the writer, but i don't think that this person and as well as poster 7:53AM understand how Huynh Sen rob and threatening his people of their votes.
Majority of the people did not vote for him. Ever heard of a "ghost" vote?
Don't be ignorant and naive! Better yet, go see it for yourself for the upcoming election.
Some blogger never went to visit
Cambodia,or just stayed in Pnom
Penh.
Maybe,not many of them were not
relatives in the countryside;so
they didn't know what happened
these poor Khmer citizens.
I went to visit my older brother
in Mongkolborey,the majority of
them were very poor;they went to
work in Thailand.
Last week,KI Media said,"8,000
Khmer people went to work in
Thailand".
The Hun Sen govt sent them in Taiwan,South Korea,and...etc...
Why did he send them to abroad?
He should create jobs in Cambodia,
not allowed them to be outside
in the country.
And 6,000,000 Vietnamese
immigrants are flowing in Cambodia.
Why did Hun Sen do that?.Even my
brother village has 12 Vietnamese
families.
The Vietnamese will take over
my native village soon.

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 30,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?
The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

not all aid come in monetar form, some was the cost of gov't reforms or improvements, some was humanitarian assistance, some was technical and training assistance, some ther administraton reforms, etc, etc. so, one can't just assume all the donor aid was in money form, not really, you know!

Thanks everyone for joining in the discussion. When i made this post I was up the night before and had also been in a recent debate about similar subjects. By any mean, Im not an expert in any field, and i take all criticism and responsibility. Keep the debate alive, Michael. Do not be discouraged of any criticism coming at you. Great article and well pointed out. We need some serious answers and changes of direction in the way our country is heading... and we know where - down the boulevard of Self-Destruction.
