Those who despise and criticize Sihanouk must be those who are pro-Lon Nol's Khmer republic before 1975.
the way i see it, sihanouk then was desparate for support, so he pick anyone who was willing to support this clinging on to power. i told you it is time for cambodia to introduce the concept of terms limitation. this way, people cannot fight over power struggle like in the past. the case of sihanouk, even though he did a lot for cambodia's struggle of independence and credited with keeping cambodia a golden land briefly during his reign, he still has some flaw about him that he failed to see as other might see it! sihanouk then was sort of in the absolute power struggle, bad idea because he failed to understand the state of changes in cambodia then. people have to keep in mind that cambodia will always change with time, nothing is absolute anymore, ok! you have to be flexible with changes and time, do not expect cambodia, as a nation to stand still forever, ok! or you will fail to see the reality, so instead, be flexible with changes or reforms because not all changes are bad, you know!
How sad that P. from Long Beach hides behind this Khmer romantic oldies postings here on KI-Media to protect and defend Sihanouk the Viet's dog at all cost!!!
