In Buddhism, all monks must stay in the pagoda and forbid travel to another area during 3 months prior to Phcum Ben, but Ven. Loun Savath has disregard it. To make matter worst this monk has acted like political active member. So, his behaviour has brought Buddhism into a disrepute. That is why the authority has sacked him for the pagoda, but he is crying out that the government has threatening him and violated his freedom (sic)

It is true that monks are not allowed to travel in the 3 months prior to Pchum Ben. Rules and regulations are important in Theravada Budhism. However, Budhism is about liberation and NOT about fear. The rules and regulations are to be used as tools to help guide individual monk become closer to englightment or to reach a true Liberation and NOT as an hindrance. Therfore, reason is more important than the rules and regulations. Reason is the main driving force behind Budhism. The main goal in Budhism is to reach an englightment or to be liberated from bondage that caused by ignorant and blindness. To reach englightment or a true liberation, it comes by way of reason and not by totaly submiting oneself to the rule and regulation. The Budha encourged all this followers to use reason as a guidance. Therefore, reason is more supreme than rules and regulations. In this case, if the action is justifiable by reason, then rules and regulations become only secondary. In the case of Ven. Loun Savath, his action was not driven by a self-centeredness but out of compassion for others. No matter what the circumstance is, serving other people in need is not a crime. He can not practice compassion by hiding in the pagoda because he afraid of the rule and regulation. If anything at all, all the monks in Cambodia should be punished for allowing fear and not reason to guide over their action or inaction.

For that reason, rules and regulations must be changed, adapted or interpreted with wisdom to reflect the need of a religion to serve humanity; otherwise its existence is the end in itself.

Monk like Ven. Loun Sovath deserves to get high respect form all human race. His not ordaine just to eat and sleep like Hochimonk. The rules or the laws were written centuries ago. It can be changed to adapt to the current circumstance. Ven. Loun acts rightously to help the needy and destitutes.

1-Buddhism is not communism. Monks can leave monastery any time during the three months retreat- Joal Vorsah- provided they do what is called Loeuk Hathabas. If for some reason, they break this rule, the offense is minor- not serious.
2- Monks doing politic is not so wrong provided they do to help. In Khmer history monks always do politic.
There are two politcs. Politic to help and politic to destroy. Khmer monks do politic to help and to save Khmer from suffering and disappearing. Khmer monks named Ajar Hem Jiao fight to death against the french and was put in prison in Koh Tralarch. Khmer monks in KampucheaKrom, use stones to fight with Vietnamese soldiers for the survival of Khmer Buddhism and Khmer identity. His holiness Dalai Lama of Tibet is the spiritual leader and political leader with his own exile government at the same time.

Monkhood means renunciation to fame, name, and worldly pleasures. Compassion is one of the powerful tools that monk observe to attain enlightenment. The rest is just secondary.
However, as spiritual leaders, monks are supposed to lead and show the way to ignorant or lay people including government officials to observe ethics (Sila) and compassion in their spiritual, worldly, and political lives. Why Cambodian Buddhism should not allow monks to express their political opinions in their capacity of Preah Krou of statesmen and people from all walks of life? It is understandable that former palm tree climbers who did not attain enlightenment due to past Samskara (bad past karma) are not authorized to counsel in politics but it is absurd that the enlightened teachers are not allowed to save people and their countries from Samsara (the life cycle). How many Khmer spiritual teachers are known for their compassion and spirituality at the global level? Anyway, communism, corrupt or dictatorial regime is very paranoid by the spiritual leaders since followers could exert national pressure on the government to change course. The case in point, the spiritual leader Anna Hazare through the fasting of his hunger strike could demand the promise of the implementation of corruption law and its enforcement in India.
Helping and caring for the poor is the true work of God-Buddha. Don't let the evil convince you otherwise!

This Kam was totally stemming from our neighbor who has never stop wanting to grab Khmer's land and want to finish us off like Champa.
Look at the current situation:
Khmers workers, because of poverty, forced themselves to get out of the country to find work and got torture. While the Khmer people inside Cambodia were forced to live in the desert areas, vulnerable to disease due to lack of foods, water, and education, thus shorten their life span.
Look at the newcomers, Yiekcongs, where do they live?
If Khmer people want to survive, we must fight the "Kam" creators - yiekcongs - and their slaves, notably Hun Cent.
