Reaching the American Dream
Mr. Sopheaktra Nou (CRC) nominated Mr. Alex Yang to be Reaching The American Dream Award's Candidate 2011. On August 13th, 2011 Mr. Alex Yang was The First Cambodian-American selected by Fresno Center For New Americans to receive the award from :
- State of California Senate office of Senator Michael J. Rubio
- California Legislature Assembly Henry T. Pera
- California State Legislature: Assembly Linad Halderman, M.D
- California State Legislature : Senator Tom Berryhill
- United State of America: Congressional office of Jim Costa
- Mayor of Fresno Ashley Swearengin
- Fresno Center New America
Mr. Alex Yang’s Speech:
I am stand before you, I can validly tell you my nightmare and horrified story of my childhood. I was separated from my parents as orphans with my brother at the age of 9 but he never made it thru. I am a refugee from Southeast Asia, I am Cambodian. By the end of Pol Pot regime I was able to reunite with my mom and we escaping from Pol Pot in 1979 during the current government come to power. By 1980 we arrived to United States, which has given me a chance and chance of a new life. I was happy, confused, and scared the same time. The new world was so much different, so much to offers, and so much choices. We are here today to celebrate “Reaching the American dreams”. Have I reach the American dreams? Maybe, then again maybe not, depend our definition of American dreams. To reach this point of our life, we come from different roads and different path. But the road that lead us to this point comes from two commitment “choice and determination”. Why do I say this because we were refugee, poor, and culture shock- compare to fish out of water. With our determination and making the right choice, we push ourselves so we can here today. It is been said that “the choice we make, will define who we are”. So Reaching the American dreams is my saying “Being the person you dream to Be.” So keep in mind to make the right choice.

i too think reconciliation is important in cambodia. let's all learn from the past and forgive and go on with our lives, etc, really!
let's get rid of that obnoxious personalities like narcissism, victimhood, controlling, criticism without ethics, splitting, etc. these are useless characteristic for anyone, you know!

group dreams,all the USA citizens
respect the rules of laws;if some
people are against the USA laws,
the USA govt send them back where
they belong.
Yes,it is very great in the US.
But in Southeast Asia,Cambodia,Lao,
Vietnam,and Thai are not the same
as in the US.
Vietnam govt is greedy,it wants to
take over the whole Southeast Asia.
It took Champa,Khmer Krom,Lao,and
Cambodia.
Now,Cambodia is a communist state
under Vietnam control.
It is a American dream,but not a
Cambodian dream.

One of KI-Media member who has his name in Facebook as Khmer Sovannaphumi but his real name is Pang Sokhoeun, former political asylum and now living in Sweden. He always copies news from here to post in his facebook profile to promote himself, but right now, he tries to removed and blocked anyone who dares to reveal his con activity particular he tries to hide what he has cheated his wife (Sreypov Chea) by having a girlfriend (Sokunthear Sam) behind his wife back. Now, his girlfriend had ran way from him after she knew his cheating.
A con man Pang Sokhoeun as well as KI-Media like to insult to the government officers who have affairs, but himself does even worse than other people. What ashame!
When one person had posted in KI-Media and accused that a con man Pang Sokhoeun is a brother of Som Ek (former Chief of Tiger's head sign guerilla, who was arrested and put in prison by Cambodian government) during that time, a cheater Pang Sokhoeun came to deny in his blogs immediately and had pointed the blame to Mr. Sourn Serey Rotha, but this time, he has bury his head in the sand because he cannot deny the truth that he has cheated his wife. Right now, all he can do is removed and blocked anyone who dared to reveal his cheating.
