Saddam vs. Pol Pot: No winner, both dead

Kilong Ung - WW Staff

A Portland Activist Helps Spike TV Pit Saddam Hussein Vs. Pol Pot (With Video)

I can't count the number of hours I've spent wondering who would win in an imaginary war between Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard and Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge guerrilla army.

Actually, I can: zero.

But in case you've ever imagined that unlikely matchup, Spike TV on Wednesday will help decide who would emerge victorious. And a Portlander who survived the Khmer Rouge genocide will offer his insight.

Kilong Ung, a software engineer who fled Cambodia as a child after losing both parents and nearly starving in a death camp, will appear on Wednesday's episode Deadliest Warrior: Saddam Hussein Vs. Pol Pot.

Ung, who graduated from Reed College and now lives with his family in New Columbia Villa, has been profiled in WW about his life and his ongoing charity work to help children in Cambodia. (Check out Ung's Golden Leaf Education Foundation.)

The Spike TV episode promises a "dictator death match" when it airs Wednesday at 10 pm. Watch this 15-minute preview, which features Ung starting at the 8:05 mark.

saddam and pol pot are both stupid people! saddan was rich and could've enjoy his wealth more if you stop being a dickhead to his people, etc. but we know that's not the case, so he died and can't even take his wealth with him to the grave. the same can be said with stupid, backward, stone age mentality pol pot that killed his own people and destroyed cambodia in the process. if that's not stupid and psychotic, then tell me what it is!

One World Government a MUST said...

This comparison is doomed. But people have always have their words though they are also stupid themselves. Who am I to claim that I know about others' thinking unless I can channel to a powerful source.
Pol Pot was a true nationalist and so are VietCongs, but the great minds of VietCong traced back to the thousand years under Chinese controlled made them great and they beatened Pol Pot by both mentality and military.

Saddam was a tyrant who hated the west and he harbored the attackers to destroy the west. While he exercised his killing the west, the west dragged him down and killed. So Pol Pot and Saddam were not the same. Yes of course they both died but who would not die?
