“The flow of laborers to foreign countries is a sign that shows Cambodia lacks jobs.”
The Cambodian government came under criticism Wednesday for failing to create jobs for an influx of workers entering the market and instead sending too many workers abroad.

Speaking at a forum to discuss the government’s migrant worker policies, In Sam Ol, a youth representative for the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, said authorities had failed to develop an economy that could absorb some 137,000 workers this year alone.

“The flow of laborers to foreign countries is a sign that shows Cambodia lacks jobs,” he said, speaking at a forum for youth political representatives of the Sam Rainsy Party and ruling Cambodian People’s Party. “The countries receiving our laborers look down on our country. For this reason, we must prevent the flow of Cambodian laborers to foreign countries.”

The forum, sponsored by the US-based International Republican Institute, was held to address an increase of workers to foreign markets, amid increasing allegations of abuse, especially of workers who wind up in Malaysia.

The forum was held to prepare young voters for the upcoming commune elections next year and national elections scheduled for 2013.

Cambodia exports labor to Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand especially. The World Bank estimates there are some 350,000 Cambodian workers abroad, while the International Labor Organization says up to 300,000 young workers into the market each year. Official government figures estimate some 126,000 workers are abroad legally, sending remittances of $180 million a year.

Sar Soputra, a CPP youth supporter, said the flow of Cambodian labor to foreign countries helped them earn incomes for the families. Legal migrant workers are well paid for their work, he said.

“But the negative [problem] is because of some companies or middlemen who lobby them to work illegally outside Cambodia,” he said.

The cpp is the slave of Hanio, first of all. They don't care about the well being of fellow khmer workers who get mistreated abroad. They keep saying that there are lots of jobs in Cambodia. But they hardly pay enough to keep up with the never ending rising cost of living in Cambodia. Mr. Hun Sen you must work for the Khmers! Not on behave of thers!

let me share a story given to me. it's called "the frogs" as follow:

a group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. all the other frogs gathered around the pit. when they saw how deep the pit was, they told the unfortunate frogs they would never get out.

the two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit. the other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and simply gave up. he fell down and died.

the other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and suffering and just die. he jumped even harder and finally made it out. when he got out, the other frogs asked him, "why did you continue jumping? didn't you hear us? the frog explained to them that he was deaf. he thought they were encouraging him the entire time."

It is certainly a good sign for Cambodia that the IRI could arrange for such a debate among youth representatives of the CPP and SRP.

Debating each other on policies provides these young politically-oriented men a new way of looking at how to resolve conflicts and differences through dialogues rather than the barrels of guns.

Young generation of politically-oriented Cambodians do certainly beat their older counterparts by numerous scores and hopefully they become examples and can provide lessons for the very old and old politicians of past Cambodia to
learn.

We never know they may be able to teach the old frogs a new trick!

it is about time for the old frogs to learn a new trick or retire.

If they don't want to learn the new tricks, they should retire and start building their merit now at the Buddhist monastery since their time is getting shorter and shorter as we speak.

6:26AM,

Instead of collectively trying to work out a way to help those stuck in the well, their efforts were entirely wasted on telling them that their future is doomed. Yet, they have the gall to ask the one who succeeded why he tried.

Anyway, what is the moral of the story? Is it that we should just ignore (be deaf) everything and do whatever we want?

Hi Everyone,

One of KI-Media member who has his name in Facebook as Khmer Sovannaphumi but his real name is Pang Sokhoeun, former political asylum and now living in Sweden. He always copies news from here to post in his facebook profile to promote himself, but right now, he tries to removed and blocked anyone who dares to reveal his con activity particular he tries to hide what he has cheated his wife (Sreypov Chea) by having a girlfriend (Sokunthear Sam) behind his wife back. Now, his girlfriend had ran way from him after she knew his cheating.

A con man Pang Sokhoeun as well as KI-Media like to insult to the government officers who have affairs, but himself does even worse than other people. What a shame!

One main way help keep Cambodian labor from going to foreign land and work.Encourage / buy and used local products and service.Buy from local native Cambodian Only ,and help keep these foreign immigrants from coming to work in Cambodia.Put them out of business.

Starve them to death so they are not agaist us anymore or send them away so they are not showing to international that we are so poor. We are CPP will do everything to defend CPP's plan and policy so that CPP can live longer. Ong Ya Ho Chi Ming had died for Cambodia. He wanted Khmer Krom and Khmer Leu to reunite into one and both can be parts of Viet Nam forever. Ong Ya liked to see Khmer and Viet Nam marry one another and learn Viet Nam and Khmer culture or Viet Name only in the future. Go CPP, Happy belate 46th annaversary for CPP starting since 1966. Bravo Ong Ya HO, long live to live...Joy Yak/Chengyouleng,

Although, my girlfriend had ran way from me and has a new boyfriend, it doesn't bother me much because I will use my con skills to get a daughter of Mr. Meng Ly as my new girlfriend.

NOTE: Mr. Meng Ly is known in KI-Media as Areak Prey.
