Toronto - Toronto Police Services has a special person in civilian employee May Mak. Mak was in the lobby at Police headquarters today for a bakery and jewelery sale to benefit Full Tummy Farm and Habitat for Humanity Toronto 9-1-1 Build.

Full Tummy Farm is May's special project. After a trip with her sister to Cambodia she knew she had to do something about the poverty she saw inside the orphanages.

"In Canada we turn on the tap and there's water, but for these children there isn't any running water. There's poverty, hunger and little future unless they have education or are lucky enough to be adopted," May said as today's sale ended.

She and her sister set up Full Tummy Farm, not only to help feed children that often live on two small bowls of rice a day, but to provide a means of profit for orphanages that they help.

So far there is one farm in Cambodia and plans for another in Laos soon. To date the cost has been just under $10,000. Not a huge amount, but that sum is bringing a much better quality of life to the children at the Cambodian home.

The farm has ducks, hens, catfish, a cow and pigs. The meat provided from the animals along with produce will help little ones from 5 to 17 go to bed with a full tummy each night. The livestock and other supplies are also helping the local economy. All purchases and labour are from within the community, which improves the citizens around the orphanage's live as well.

Part of the funds raised also provide for the children's education, school supplies, clothing, mosquito nets and beds.

Using her creative talents of jewelry making May works tirelessly to help those young children with the help of her sister.

May said that the sale went very well today and that all of the baked goods were brought. Another charity will also benefit from today's event, the Habitat for Humanity Toronto 9-1-1 Build. Toronto's police, firefighters and EMS services are all working together to raise the funds to build two homes for worthy future home owners in Toronto.

The profits from the event will be split 60 percent to Habitat Toronto 9-1-1 Build and 40 percent to Full Tummy Farm - Orphanage Food Project.

May said that the people don't always see all the community service work that Toronto Police do behind the scenes.

"We have a dedicated team that gives back to our community and communities outside of Toronto," May said smiling as she looked around the lobby today.

Toronto Police, Fire, and EMS will join Habitat for Humanity Toronto this Saturday to begin an eight day build at 32 St. Dunstan Drive.

I have got the news, It's very new, informative and interesting for me. Well Chinese buyers are really trying hard to buy most of the apartments of Vancouver, and that's why demand is increasing and price is increasing, this is making general people unaffordable to buy homes in Vancouver.
