The former "Brother Number Two" of the Khmer Rouge, under whom up to two million people died Cambodia in the 1970s, has claimed his party were not "bad people", in evidence at a UN backed tribunal.

"How many Vietnamese people are now in Cambodia, both legal and illegal? If you don't protect the country, the country will be gone."
Monday saw the first day of evidence in the trial of three former leaders of the communist movement that ruled the South East Asian state between 1975 and 1979.
Nuon Chea, 85, who was second in command in the Khmer Rouge, said: "I don't want the next generation to misunderstand history. I don't want them to believe the Khmer Rouge is bad people, are criminal. Nothing is true about that."
The comment came as part of a protracted history lesson to the students, monks and victims who gathered at a specially built courthouse on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital.
In a speech lasting more than an hour Nuon Chea, laid the blame for the war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity, with Cambodia's neighbour Vietnam.
In the years preceding the Khmer Rouge's "liberation" of Phnom Penh in April 1975, Nuon Chea, who denies the charges, said the Vietnamese operated a "puppet" movement posing as a Cambodian-led communist party.
He went on to play on historic animosity between Cambodia and Vietnam.
"How many Vietnamese people are now in Cambodia, both legal and illegal? If you don't protect the country, the country will be gone."
Nuon Chea, replacing his trademark sunglasses with reading glasses, took his time and often failed to answer questions by the judge.
Fellow defendants, former head of state Khieu Samphan and former foreign minister Ieng Sary, sat slumped in their chairs most of the day at the court.
Nuon Chea also spoke of a radicalising experience in Thailand, where he worked for the Thai Foreign Ministry in the late 1940s.
"Injustice was everywhere" in Thailand, he said.
He said was privy to reports coming out of Cambodia at the time. "I observed ... the shooting of Cambodian people by the French [colonial rulers] ... I was heartbroken and I started my resistance."
Chum Sirath, of the group Ksaem Ksan, or the Victims Association of Democratic Kampuchea, said Nuon Chea's strategy was "shrewd".
He said: "He mixes historic truths such as the suffering of the people during French colonialist era, the expansionist policy of neighbouring countries detrimental to Cambodia, with lies about the crimes committed during his regime: deportations of populations, concentration camps, forced marriages, detention and torture centres and so on, saying all was perpetrated by Vietnamese agents."

Millions of illegal and legal Vietnamese have been residing inside Cambodia after Vietnam’s invasion in January 1979, causing extreme concerns amongst Khmer people about the prospect that Cambodia would be the second Kampuchea Krom (the current southern part of Vietnam).

For example, in the last 50 years, which event that Khmer people suffered without Vietnam's involvement? If Vietnam is not in the front scene, Vietnam would stay behind the scene to create turbulence in Cambodia..
So, to combat this evil nation Vietnam, we must strengthen our morale and must find a way to provide the proof to the international communities, especially the International Court of Justice about Vietnam's criminal activities against Khmer people, making Vietnam accountable for its ill acts.
It is imperative that our educated people gather the necessary information and find a way to bring Vietnam to face justice.
For instance, the K5 project which imposed by Vietnam had killed hundreds of thousands of Khmer people. It is a typical case that we should use as the first concrete step to make Vietnam pay for its evil deeds.
Vietnam has done horrible things to Khmer people, but we have never done anything to make Vietnam pay. That is why Vietnam kept doing bad thing to Cambodian people and currently implementing its colonization on Cambodia.

The real cause of why Khmers keep fighting with Khmers.
First, Khmer people have to know these facts first:
- The United Nations planned to make a trip to Cambodia on January 15th 1979 to check the Khmer Rouge.
_ Vietnam knew about this trip in advance, so Vietnam made a full scale attack on Cambodia to stop the United Nations from monitoring the Khmer Rouge.
- As we all know Khmer Vietminh (Yuon's brainwashed students) committed most of the killings during the Pol Pot's era.
By invading Cambodia, Vietnam was able to put an ignorant, uneducated person named Hun Sen in charge of the country.
Because Hun Sen is Vietnam's slave, he has served only Vietnam's interest. That made Khmer people so mad. That why we all see like Khmers always fight with Khmers
Now you can see, WHO MADE KHMERS FIGHT WITH KHMERS?
It is time for ALL OF US to understand Vietnam's tricks. This Devil Vietnam is the root cause of Khmers fight with Khmers.
The past is history...The winner always makes and rewrites history...

Nguyen Thach Son was the real leader of CPP between 1946-1954, Son Ngoc Minh or Achar Mean only the leader of CPP ( Khmer People's Revolutianry Party in 1951 in name only.

Note: Nguyen Thach knew Cambodia hight and low as a top yuon Viet Minh and Khmer Viet Minh fighter between 1946-1954 in Cambodia.
The Communist Party of Kampuchea.

KhmerRouge or Communist Party of Kampuchea was a combination of Khmer Viet Minh and and a group of Paris students group created in 1960 by 3 figures to be indepedent off yuon Communist party of Ho Chi Minh but tried to remain to be friend with Ho Chi Minh ( The Indochinese Communist Party ) as follow:
1. Tou Samouth.
2. Nuon Chea.
3. Pol Pot.
1. Tou Samouth , Kea Meas , So Phim , Rhos Nhim played very important role in joining former Khmer Viet Minh fighters who did not go to Hanoi into the Communist Party of Kampuchea.
2. Nuon Chea played very important role in joining other Khmer Issarak fighters like Ke Pok, Ta Mok into the Communist Party of Kamuchea.
3. Pol Pot , from the beginning in 1960, had only a hanfull solders but the number of Pol Pot solders increased rapidly after 1970s.
Between 1975-1979 majority of that Khmer Viet Minh became Khmer Rouge villages chiefs, communes chiefs, districts chiefs and secretaries zones.
1. So Phim in Eastern zone and Rhos Nhim in Battambang and Pursat.
