Cambodia achieves significant development since fall of DK regime: ruling party

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has achieved significant national development in all fields in the past 33 years since the fall of the Democratic Kampuchea, or known as Khmer Rouge regime, said the president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on Saturday.

"Since the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime, we have started to restore the nation from scratch," Chea Sim said in speech in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of Jan. 7 victory day.

"Over the past thirty three years, Cambodia has transformed from being a land of deaths to a land of development full of energy and hope," said Chea Sim, who is also the president of the Senate.

Cambodia that was plagued with protracted war, division, violence, destruction and insult has now become a motherland of peace, stability, unity, democracy and development, he said.

Meanwhile, Chea Sim said the ruling CPP would continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with all political forces and circles with patriotic wills in order to construct the nation and defend the motherland.

The commemoration, held at the CPP's headquarters, was also presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen, the party's Vice- President, and President of National Assembly Heng Samrin, the party's Honorary President. It was attended by approximately 12, 000 supporters.

Cambodia saw Jan. 7 as the victory day over the Democratic Kampuchea regime. On Jan. 7, 1979, the troops of Kampuchea United Front for National Salvation with the cooperation and support from the Vietnamese troops had toppled the DK regime after it had controlled the country for three years, eight months and 20 days.

During the period, over three millions of Cambodian compatriots died from execution, disease, starvation and overwork, Chea Sim said.

However, critics said Jan. 7 marked an anniversary of an invasion by Vietnamese troops in Cambodia.

There is nothing to be proude about. There is nothing less as Khme any more: Youn became majority and every institution run by Youn, including Buddhist institution even though Youn does not believe in any religious (the youn government that is). The tree are down 70% down, the lake, the river are polluted, every singles day, numberous Khmer are being evicted by either for Youn benefit, Chinese, or a few currupted jerks. Is this something to be proude of? 7th January mean nothing, on the cotrary, it is the beginning down fall of Khmer-Second Prey Nokor! We should band Hun Sen and his asshole few associate to be Khmer. He love Youn so much he should move out of Khmer to live in somewhere in Youn land-ohh sorry, there is no such a thing is Khmer anymore. OK, never mind!

Yes,it's certainly a progress for Hun Sen,from being a cow thief son and semi illeterate to be Yuon slave as the king maker,is the most violent man and corrupted family in the nation.

All his cronies and ministers, from have nothing to be the powerful thugs who have countless money and wealth be serving Hun Sen blindly. Look at Sok An,Cham Prasidh,Keat Chhon,Hor Nam Hong,a Khmorj Hok Lundi etc..
Even for Theary seng from being an unemployed orphan Christian in the US to have a job with free world traveling spree and steady salary to buy a house and maids under the COMMIE umbrella.

So, Chea Sim thinks that Cambodians have a lot to be proud of. Has he tried telling that to the men, women, and kids working at rubbish dump sites all across the country? How about the school kids- from their first class to whenever they dicide to leave- who have to bribe their teachers? The patients in hospitals that have no drugs, no doctors, and still having to pay for their beds, eventhough all those hospitals are supposed to be government run? Yes, Cambodia should be proud if Cambodia was just 10 years out of Pol Pot. But 30 years on, with relative peace, with billions of foreign aid, and a brutal government accustomed to doing whatever it wants? Where are the results that should match all of that time and money and sacrifice by the ordinary people?
