Culture of violence blamed for Cambodian factory shooting

February 21, 2012
ABC Radio Australia

At least three Cambodian textile workers have been shot and wounded during an industrial protest in the country's east.

Authorities say the shooting occurred after workers at the factory that supplies the sportswear giant PUMA forced their way onto the premises, hurled rocks and tried to light fires.

The shooting has been blamed on a uniformed police officer....and more broadly on Cambodia's culture of violence and impunity.
