ថើបអូនមក” - Soeur Sotheara
NB: Thank you everyone for your kind message and New Year greetings. Likewise, my belated, but warmest wishes to you all and to Khmer people everywhere as well as non-Khmers who partake in this national festivity. OK, lest I dampen your New Year spirit, let me be brief and focus on more immediate subject matters raised by messages above:

1- Mr Héng (មួយរយ) Soy (ស្ហេរ៉ូ) -  the name is a contradiction in terms as most of us may have realised by now; an amalgam of bi-polar opposites i.e. "lucky" "unlucky", and not the sort of names most parents would give to their children, not Khmer parents and certainly not both at the same time. But, here is the crux of the matter: the "rational mind" is only as potent and powerful as temporal matters can "rationally" be accounted for, and hence the eternal schism raging within the metaphysical world between the “rational” and the “spiritual” traditions since man first learned to reflect and philosophise! Whether Mr Heng Soy himself [or his parents, by his account] in opting to name himself thus had yielded to some kind of "superstitious" impulse is a moot point, unless we feel embolden enough to drift beyond the bounds of rationality and off into the contentious terrain of "superstition"! Yet, the "superstition" I have in mind is perhaps more an intuitive knowledge or cognitive certainty that we humans possess within us rather than anything opaque or mysterious to our rational faculty. For instance, some scholars point out that those initial opening passages in the Hebrew bible, particularly, ones pertaining to the parables about the garden of Eden and the discovery by man of the Tree of Knowledge, of Good and Evil [Lucky and Unlucky] encapsulates not only the message of the entire Bible itself but represents the highest, most meaningful and astute point in man's quest to understand himself within the order of the universe or the cosmos that is in turn sustained by the law of opposites i.e. order and chaos [lucky and unlucky!]. Yet what is remarkable or surprising is how this realisation had come about, not through science laboratories, but that it had been arrived at intuitively through spiritual and mental contemplation by ascetics who perhaps dwelled in a mountain cave or in the wilderness. The point is, there are causes and consequences, actions and reactions that eventually equilibrate or balance things out in the end; a sort of 'hidden' karma or causality that governs all life forms, so maybe it's not a coincidence at all that someone has come to be called 'Heng Soy' and furthermore that to wish him sincerely "100 Lucky" and "0 Unlucky" would be to upset that delicate balance and thus expose him to more harm than good! So let us wish him 50 Heng [lucky] and 50 Soy [unlucky] instead, eh?

2- As the second quote above insinuates some of us do reside at KI Media, for good or ill [School of Vice himself has not been to a Khmer New Year event in over twenty years, and it's long before KI Media came into existence!] for which we have Mr Heng Soy to thank! According to a well sourced rumour, Mr Soy used to be a magnet to members of the opposite sex and would often find himself chased off the streets by them! Thus, the experience of being constantly harassed in this way forced him to take refuge in a more reclusive, but cerebral environment far from the clamour of his lusty female admirers, hence his decision to found KI Media, and therefore the gratitude we owe him for this blessed coincidence that has since become our place of refuge!

The video song above is dedicated to him in token reminder of his pre-KI Media days. Just picture him in that shy, handsome young man in the video, but a lot more handsome and debonair in real life, . . .

Happy New Year!

Dear Mr. "School of Vice"/Mr. Heng Soy,

Thanks a million for the wonderful lesson about everything revolves around Mr. Heng Soy's name.

My most sincere apology to Mr. Heng Soy for my new year wishes turns out to be something else that I did not mean because of my ignorance. Please forgive me.

សូមអស់លោកអភ័យទោសអោយខ្ញុំ

Very truly yours,
អក

P.s. I have volunteerily deleted my comment from Mr. Heng Soy's posting. Best of luck to everyone here on KI-Media. Thank you.

Dear friend above,

No apologies please, and there was no need to remove your comment either. Just lighthearted exercise on my part, that's all! Don't take it seriously.

It's now my turn to feel quite bad about it . . .

Take care,

If man had not eaten of the, Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, then man would never need to balance out the Ying and Yang of his life.

Through the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil came death to man (men). Man was deciding what is good and what is evil by his own choice with limited knowledge of his action of the future consequence of that choice.

Think about it, man was placed in a perfect environment to live forever without the knowledge of evil. If man had continued to obey his Creator to this day, the first man and woman would be almost or is 6 thousand years of age, still living vibrant lives.

Death came because of disobedient of the One and only commandment for man, that was, "Don't eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. In the day you eat of it, you shall die."

There is a restoration coming for those who are part of Yeshua's Kingdom. Yeshua will restore this broken world of sin and death to its original intent.

Satan and all his bad angels will be bound up for One thousand years. Wat this mean is, there will be peace and quitness around the world without man lifting a sword against another man. Weapons of war will be of the past. And man will be able to live up to a thousand years of age without sickness of any diseases.

Isn't this Good News?
Here is your choice:
Yeshua--Good or Satan--Evil

Yeshua has the power to destroy Satan and all that follow him, after the one thousand year reign of his kingdom here on earth. Yes, evil will be all cast out from his presense when its time comes.

School of Vice,

You have added quite a romantic video song on my third day of the Khmer New Year in KI Media with your analysis of the name of Mr. Heng Soy. You have just made my day! Thank you very much.

Theoretically speaking, you are right about Mr. Heng Soy's name of 50% for the Heng and another 50% for the Soy; however, I still prefer the practical side of the name and wish that much more Heng happens to him and much less Soy ever makes it to him and if it does, it is a miniscule Soy just to make him appreciate all the Hengs he has received in his life.

Mr. Heng Soy's leadership at KI Media and his team should certainly be recognized for the wonderful job and hard work they have done to maintain KI site on this occasion of a Khmer New Year!

Also your contribution to the KI Media site is also appreciated by me.

Cambodian New Year is a good time and occasion to say "Thank You" to KI Media and its team and wish them a good and a Happy New Year.

Cambodians should learn to change the old habit of appreciating less and blaming more to apprciating more and blaming less.

Pissed off

The show of YouTube is very boring to death during CPP regime.

Golden Age musics and shows back in 1960 through 1975 are so much better.

All TV Show programs and movies under CPP regime are very bad and stupid.
