Sar Chamrong has been appointed Kratie Provincial Governor – and that he marked the occasion by saying that implementation of the controversial Village-Commune Safety Policy is the main priority in order to enforce security and public order, especially during the upcoming commune elections – we re-circulate our January fact sheet on the Village-Commune Safety Policy which sets out our significant concerns (please see attached in English and in Khmer) about this policy.

H.E. Sar Chamrong Appointed Kratie Provincial Governor

AKP Phnom Penh, May 18, 2012 –

H.E. Sar Chamrong, Adviser to Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen was officially appointed as Governor of Kratie province in a ceremony held yesterday in Kratie under the presidency of H.E. Im Chhun Lim, Senior Minister, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

On the occasion, H.E. Sar Chamrong, former Kratie Deputy Governor, said the implementation of the Village-Commune Safety policy is the main priority to enforce security and public order, especially during the upcoming Commune/Sangkat Council Election.

The appointment was made to replace former Kratie Provincial Governor H.E. Kham Phoeun who died in a car accident in early May 2012.
