Your joint statement has explicitly hit the right target - the National Election Committee - that will enable both parties to have a fair election, but both parties still have a difficult task ahead of them because of the mass influx of the Vietnamese who have the right to vote.
Here is my suggestion to whether the storm that will hit the new coalition and try to break it up:
1- Again, the CPP will attempt to create "suspicion" within the newly reated party. So be cool and understand that if Sam Rainsy and/or Kem Sokha are/is the puppet of the CPP, then Cambodia will not have anymore Khmer Nationalists. Subsequently, Cambodia will be ready to become part of Vietnam. Therefore, stop accusing each other of being the puppet of the puppet because it will only benefit Vietnam.
2- They will try to elevate one party and put down another party, to make both parties feel uncomfortable of each other.
For example, look at some comments of the bloggers.. So, again be cool to this kind of tactic.
3- They will use their elements to do something unlawful and blame the new coalition. For example, Mam Sonando’s case. The new coalition must inform the international community, especially the UN about this dirty tactic. By informing the international community in advance, you have created an obstacle for the puppet government to deploy such trick. It will backfire if the puppet government persists on doing it.
4- The new coalition should bear the name “ SAM RAINSY HUMAN RIGHT PARTY”. By keeping both names, you make all of your members, and especially Khmer people feel comfortable and familiar with it. Furthermore, it is difficult for the puppet government to break it up.
Learn from the history why Son Sann party, Funcinpec party, Cheat Khmer party were broken up. So, give the right name to avoid wasting your time to fight the problem that you don’t need to. By incorporating the name Sam Rainsy in the new party, it will provide a self defense mechanism for the new party – CPP cannot use its elements inside the new party to disintegrate it.
Your compromise and understanding have given Khmer people hope and Cambodia a chance to survive this neocolonialist Vietnam. Both parties must be mature at resolving any problems that will arise….
