Opposition lawmaker Mu Sochua, who has appealed for three years after losing a defamation suit to Prime Minister Hun Sen.

PHNOM PENH - The Court of Appeals on Friday granted parliamentary immunity returned to opposition lawmaker Mu Sochua, who has appealed for three years after losing a defamation suit to Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Mu Sochua first sued the premier in 2009 over election comments he made during the previous year’s election campaign that she claimed were derogatory.
Hun Sen followed suit, accusing her of defamation for the accusations, and the National Assembly stripped Mu Sochua of her immunity so that she could face the suit in court. Mu Sochua did not win her case. Hun Sen won his.
But the National Assembly did not return her immunity immediately.
“Sometimes the court provides justice and sometimes not,” Mu Sochua told reporters Friday, saying Cambodia’s judiciary needs “help.”
Cambodian parliamentarians are provided immunity from court prosecution by the constitution, as a way to protect them and allow them to speak freely in debates. That immunity can be voted away by members of the National Assembly, however.
Critics say the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, which has 90 of 123 seats, has used its majority to strip immunity from opposition lawmakers and expose them to court action. Other opposition officials, including opposition leader Sam Rainsy, have had their immunity revoked in the past.
Rong Chhun, president of the Independent Teacher’s Association, a pro-opposition union, said the court’s remain politically biased.
“Because Mu Sochua is a member of the opposition party, the court took three years to provide her with her immunity,” he said. “If Mu Sochua were a member of the ruling party, maybe within three days the court would provide her immunity.”

Once again. Let's me ask you questions? What kind of background does she have? I personnally don't really like her since she caused trouble with Samdech Dehchu Hun Sen years ago. She came from the US and she carried the US Law and style to used lawsuite against ther gorvenment.

You seemed to have some sort of education and have some intelligent far better than Hun Sen, the uneducated, brutally murder others for power, but why do you choose to use trash talk especially write on the board for million to read?
You are educated who fought Yuon to save the country, but Hun Sen does the opposite. You don't just support a crazy man like Hun Sen because he has power and rich.
Madame Mu Soc Hua in her biography from Berkeley University, CA, USA. She received her Master Degree in Political Science, and received directly from Berkeley a Doctorate Honorary Degree.
She had a prestige career, but because of her love for country she returned just like other Khmers do. First she joined CPP, but she finally found out that CPP work for Yuon Hanoi, she switched to Nationalist which is opposition.
If you are a leader of Nationalist you too will gain more supports from million Khmer nationalists like Madame SocHua. But sadly you chose to serve Yuon.
You shouldn't get upset with he rlaw suit against the Yuon's puppet Hun Sen a tyrant dictator. Hun Sen declared Cambodia has a democracy, and that lawsuit proved a democracy.
Cool off and think again, the person who can write English and can communicate well online with others like yourself chose a stupid traitor like Hun Sen? Unless you are his family members who pretended to be exKR soldier.

Well, I understand your full meaning sentence that you have mentioned here. Concerning that woman, I don’t care where she acquired her degree, and I don’t’ care whether she is a high education from a real prestige school in the US. She is NOT the only Khmer woman who has high education. We have lot of Khmer women here who have higher education then her. I just hate her the way she acts since she is in Cambodia. I have gone to English school in Phnom Penh; I acquired lot of degrees and certificates from universities. And perhaps, I don’t do well like Khmer people who live abroad especially you – you write and speak well English language. You look-down on me by saying my English language is ‘Terrible’ I admitted that because I am not living abroad and speaking English language every day like you, so don’t you talk about who is who perfect in English language. In our country now, we have lot of people who have spoken so many languages not just English, and there’s lot of educate people as well. We may not need you to be bossed, and work here, you are absolutely not thing like a trash shit on the street, and causing trouble and blame on the government. You are no ‘Khmer’.

But what is all about? Well like someone above said that you are far better than Hun Sen in term of education, I say the same thing. Your English is not bad at all.

Now let be honest for the sake of your earnest declaration, you want all Khmers to stop hating Khmer Rouge, because we all are Khmers, but why do you preach of hate toward another Khmer woman, who happened to be known as female world leader, Mrs. Mu SocHua?
Are you so jealous with your Khmer who is working tirelessly to promote democracy?
