Authorities Consider Public Palace Viewing of ‘King Father’

No Entry to Non-CPP?
30 October 2012
Kong Sothanarith, VOA Khmer

PHNOM PENH - Fifteen days after the passing of former king Norodom Sihanouk, Royal Palace officials have not determined whether they will let common Cambodians view his body in state.

Thousands upon thousands of Cambodians have made their way to the public grounds in front of the palace in Phnom Penh, but only public officials have been allowed inside the grounds to mourn the former monarch, who died in Beijing after a heart attack earlier this month.

Government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said authorities are determining how best to provide safety and security to the throngs of people who would likely enter and exit the palace for a viewing.

Meanwhile, exiled opposition leader Sam Rainsy has remained out of the country, unable to pay his respects.

A second exile, Moeung Son, the head of the Khmer Civilization Foundation, who is facing two years in prison on charges of defamation for publicly criticizing the Apsara Authority, said he also would like to return.

Moeung Son told VOA Khmer he wants pardoned for the alleged crimes in order to return and build a health care center near the border temple of Preah Vihear, “following the king father’s advice.”

Dear KI,
I don't the belive Khmer text "No Entry to Non-CPP" is in place. Please don't just post anything that is not factual, or alter the photo to the point of exaggeration. You ruin your integrity as reputable source of our Khmer news. Thank you.

Ki-Media,

Would you please delete the nonsense comments coming from Yuon/Vietnamese blogger. Why should readers and internet bloggers read fake stories from hypocrite Vietnamese bloggers.

Again and again, we need to focus on the interests of Khmer people and nation.

We need Khmer readers and bloggers including the bloggers around the world to understand the read situation about Cambodia caused by illegal Yuon residents in Cambodia and need to know the real problems caused by Vietnamese folks in Cambodia.

Should Khmer bloggers and foreign bloggers read and believe the hypocrite Vietnamese bloggers who posted the comments on Ki-Media.

Vietnamese bloggers invade Ki-Media here by posting the nonsense comments. That does not make sense to educate Khmer bloggers to learn and be aware when the bad Vietnamese bloggers interfere with.

Ki-Media should understand that there are the discussion, debate and argument to help Khmer and foreign bloggers to learn about Cambodia situation happening everyday. We want Khmer bloggers and foreign bloggers to understand what have been going on in Cambodia and to Khmer people.

Why are the Vietnamese bloggers here on Ki-Media to confuse the readers and bloggers? They tried to mislead or misinform the readers and bloggers about Cambodia. How stupid is that?

Thank you.
