A four-meter bronze statue honouring the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk will be built in Dragon Park near Phnom Penh’s Independence Monument, Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Saturday.

The statue of Sihanouk, set to stand seven metres tall once mounted on a pedestal, had unanimous support as a memorial to Cambodia’s former king, who passed away, aged 89, on October 15, Hun Sen said.

“We will build a statue of our hero King Father somewhere between the Independence Monument and the other end of Dragon Park for foreign delegates and our people who want to pay their respects there,” he said.

Hun Sen did not give precise details on where the statue would be built in Dragon Park, also known as Neak Banh Teuk Park, on Sihanouk Boulevard, but he hoped it could be protected from extreme weather.

“I don’t want this statue to be left under the hot sun or heavy rain all the time. I want it to be covered. It would be the respectful thing to do. But this is up to the King and the Queen Mother,” he said.

Hun Sen said the cremation of the late King Father was planned for the first week of February because it was considered bad luck to hold it after Chinese New Year, which falls next year on February 10.

Nhek Bun Chhay, deputy chief of the national festival organising committee, said he hoped the statue would be built before then; however, he did not know how much it would cost.

"A four-meter bronze statue honoring the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk will be built in Dragon Park near Phnom Penh’s Independence Monument, Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Saturday."

=A four-meter bronze statue is smaller than the Vietcong statue (the Cambodia-Vietnam friendship statue)!

I used to think that King Sihanouk is the father of Cambodia independence but since his statue is smaller and shorter than the Vietcong statue and AH HUN SEN is trying to remind Cambodian people that the true liberation Cambodia is not King Sihanouk and it is the Vietcong who liberated Cambodia!

Good job AH HUN SEN! After the Vietcong so called liberation of Cambodia and AH HUN SEN is the father of Cambodia Vietcong slave dependence nation!

Now you know why stupid Cambodian leader such as AH HUN SEN can never do anything right! Why Cambodian leaders such as AH HUN SEN lack the most basic common sense in decision making? You go figure because the Vietcong are making all the decisions for him!

Off course a hun shit would love to build a kingta monument because without his downfall a hun shit wouldn't be where he is today, bravo. But for how long? because power is not for him to take but to earn from doing a good deed, not kill to steal.

What about AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave and he built a replica of himself as Sdach Korn! ahhahhahah

Some of the mother fuckers here never complain about AH HUN SEN wasting Cambodian people money! Only the Vietcong can think very negative of King Sihanouk because King Sihanouk labels the Vietcong as the ungrateful crocodile!

Put his small statue by the Khmer-Vietnamese friendship monument to remember his contribution.
