Yes, Lon Nol regime was corrupted, not Lon Nol who sold weapons to the Khmer Rouge, learn the history. The three million khmer died because Sihanouk, Khmer Rouge and in particular the Vietnamese were in all of the killing of Khmer people. Sihanouk was in greed for power, the Khmer Rouge was a lackey of the Vietnamese at first and later on switch side to the Chinese that is why they were removed from power by COMINTERN and The Vietnamese, by force.
The French, The American, The Soviet and the Chinese were and are contemporary resources and military support to the Vietnamese expansion in to Cambodia and Laos. The Vietnamese was using these contemporary assets to serve their ancient expansionism.
In March 1970, there were almost 60,000 regular NVA soldiers already in Cambodia, this is not include many other units on logistical trails bringing tons of weapons and ammo to battle fields.
I can tell you that I served in the Khmer Republic army which did not even have enough weapons/ammo to go to fight.
Khmer need to unite, this is now or never. Cambodia is being blended from within, 7 million Vietnamese is converting Khmer to a new hybrid nation which is a satellite of Vietnam.
Khmer also need to know the current world's affairs that affect Cambodia in many years to come:

This is dangerous for Cambodia, Vietnam is old client of the Soviet, enemy to the Chinese from border disputes to maritime disputes in the South China Sea. It is with these logics, I can assume that Vietnamization of Cambodia will be full speed ahead. We need to unite and support the voice for democracy, the true independence path for the survival of Cambodia.

If you say the Enfield rifle, Garand M1, Carbine M1 were modern weapons, then you are in deep coma. The weapons provided by the U.S. were mostly left over from WW II and captured low grade weapons from the NVA. The Khmer Republic Army was fighting the third best equipped and trained army in the world in the 70's. only in late 73 when moderate weapons were available to the Khmer soldier in the filed. There were many brave soldiers who lost their life in defense of Cambodia.
