Dear Mr. Kuch Ly,
First of all, we would like to thank you for the clarifications you provided on one of the articles we posted featuring photos of you and Mr. Meach Sovannara, along with several VIP people. For the sake of our readers’s understanding, please allow us to provide some background information first. On 10 December 2012, The Deum Ampil News (DAP-news) posted an editorial supporting Dr. Lao Monghay’s suggestion that Cambodians ought to forget about any demand for the return of Kampuchea Krom (South Vietnam) and Koh Trol Island, both of which are now under Vietnamese occupation. In that article, DAP-news also posted a photo of Soy Sopheap, the newspaper owner, standing next to Dr. Lao Monghay. One of our team members who re-posted that article on KI-Media, wrote his indignation:
“ដើម្បីបានឈរថតជាមួយពួកក្បត់ជាតិគឺត្រូវតែចេះនិយាយភាសារក្បត់ជាតិអញ្ចឹង!”
(For somebody to stand and take a picture with a traitor, one has to know how to speak the same treason language!”).
Following the posting of that photo, on 11 December 2012, an anonymous reader sent over several photos featuring Messrs Kuch Ly and Meach Sovannara with several VIPs in Cambodia. The anonymous reader asked us to post them also and he pointed out to us that the content of his photos is no different from the one we posted about Dr. Lao Monghay and Soy Sopheap. As an explanation to the posting of these so-called compromising photos, we noted:
Following the publication of the photo of Dr. Lao Monghay with Soy Sopheap, one of our readers sent over the following photos and asked us to post them also. In the mind of this reader, criticisms against Dr. Lao Monghay should apply to the gentlemen in the photos below as well. We leave this judgment up to you.We welcome replies/comments from any of the gentlemen shown on these photos.Thank you,KI-Media team
As for the accusations made against you for being a Vietnamese citizen or a spy of Mr. Hun Sen, quite frankly, we are surprised to hear that, as we never mention anything of the sort. That being said, it is possible that you may have read something vaguely similar to these accusations in the un-moderated comment section of our posting, but that is not our position.
We understand that some of the articles and photos we post could be controversial, just like this case, but that’s the nature of our postings. We do not belong to a news organization, nor do we pretend to be one, and as such, we do solicit and welcome comments and rebuttals from people involved, and it certainly is the case here.
We hope that we have provided pertinent answers to the questions you raised. Should we fail to answer any of your questions, please feel free to contact us and let us know.
Again, we thank you for sending over additional photos clarifying your position and providing transparency to the so-called “compromising” photos. We regret any misunderstanding you may have.
Thank you,
KI-Media team
