To Dr. Lao Monghay and Mr. Ouk Virak,
Have you surrendered your conscience to treason? For generations, countless Khmers have bravely risen up and made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the nation’s territorial integrity against repeated foreign aggressions and occupations so that all of us, including you and your loved ones, can have a place to call home. The least thing that any sensible Khmer citizen or you shall do is to remember and honor their sacrifice so that it will not go in vain.
By advocating that we should forget Kampuchea Krom and Koh Tral, you disgracefully betray those heroic men and women who have courageously and steadfastly fought to safeguard the nation and chose to ignore the endless suffering and injustice that our compatriots in Kampuchea Krom have been constantly subject to.
The idea/view you are promoting is patriotically condemnable. It is tantamount to a moral and intellectual capitulation at best and an outright treason by any nationalist standard at worst.
After all those years of involvement in the nation’s politics, how can a person of your intellectual and educational background not have learned or understood that it is a perilous illusion to think a lasting peace, stability and economic prosperity would be achieved by ceding parts of the nation's territory to the expansionist neighbours.
Instead of irresponsibly suggesting others to abandon Kampuchea Krom and Koh Tral, would it not be a wise thing for you to promote the idea of taking the two issues to the ICJ, just as what other people did for the Preah Vihear?
If there is any Khmer conscience or self-respect left in you, you owe to the nation and its fallen heroes a genuine public apology for wrongly promoting an unpatriotic and self-destructive view.

Take your anger to someone in power like your Hun Sen. I am in no defense to what Dr. Lao Monghay. But your letter directing him is selfish to say the least. Your letter should be forward to Hun Sen instead. He as a political observer can only suggest his idea.

I have said it before. Dr. Lao ought to come out to apology to the Cambodian people for his reckless comment. It is wrong for him to say such a thing. It is not something we expect from a person of highly educated Phd. He must also correct his course of action to protect Khmer land. Regardless of what we do, Vietnam will never stop their action of expansionist policy toward Cambodia and Laos. We can give the whole Cambodia to Vietnam and Vietnam would still continue to expansionist policy. So figure it out Dr Lao... You c an apologize and correct your course of action or you can be a person of betraying your own country.

Dr. Lao are free to express what they think. He can be wrong of right but that does not make him a betrayor. Where is the freedom of expression that most of you want to advocate for? Whatever they say, they at least do it openly and not under the cover of anonymous comments which allow some of the forum members to be rudes in their comments. My own view is that, yes we should not forget about Kampuchea Krom and Koh Tral, not least not for such losses to occur again but I believe that one should prioritize and see what battles to fight first. Democracy Human rights, next elections, Preah Vihear, CPP, corruption, an efficient opposition party that could unify all democrats, an educated civil society? Just food for thought

The dude by the title of dr. LaoWhater has a lot of respects from many cambodian, in cambodia and abroad. Althought he has every right to express himself regarding cambodia lost of territorial integrety, he should not discourage others nationalists and patriots from being optomistic about gaining back the lost land, kampuchea krom, and many islands including koh trol.
The only reason why khmer krom people have the courage to stand up against viet and holding onto khmer tradition, culture and language is the fact that they believe one day kampuchea krom will be returned to cambodia or become an indepedent country.
Dr. Lao your words mean a lot to khmer people, please express your opinion wisely. If you don't have the will, don't discourage others.

Don't read Dr. Mong Hay's words too much. He just a normal Khmer citizen like us. He has no power no any influence to change any thing in Cambodia. He has work for Cambodia for more than 20 years and has achieved nothing more than to bow down before a dictator Hun Sen. Even he claimed to be an independent political analyst, but what he has said were not well detail and clear compared to many analysts who never has Phd like him. He is just a poor political analyst who has struggled to pronounce words or phrases clearly. So It doesn't matter what he has said, he is still a useless person.

Anything else that you know in regarding Cambodia's islands,for in stance,Koh Tral which is now fully invaded by Vietnam?
If you do,please disclose that discovery which led you view that Cambodians should give up Kampuchea Krom and Koh Tral.
Your view is not considered to be one off the street 's view, and it has very serious implication over individual respect and national interest.
Is there any trade off , so called border installation, to leave the remain Cambodia?.I doubt it would be the case because the open border to Vietnamese to live increasingly in Cambodia, indicates that Vietnam has tried to invade Cambodia in many aspects.
As it was suggested,you owe Cambodians an appropriate explanation and help persue Cambodians wish as per intellectual Cambodian.
I hope you do not be blinded by circumstantial evidence,which distorts many lay cambodians
