Is School of Vice a Tyrant?! Have your say...

Where does School of Vice rank among these notorious tyrants in history?

RE: I'm So Depressed!

'Haha...Good one, Jendha! It's even better than The Undertaker's Mr. Bean buck naked jokes...hehe!!! You can delete my comment just like Mr. Tyrant School of Vice has been doing if you want too..oopsie, to, okie?

Or is it just one too many already?'
'12:21 AM
I would never ever delete anyone's comments. "Pure gold does not fear the flame!" Jendhamuni is always Jendhamuni.'

Dear KI Media reader,

For sometime now some readers have complained about their posts or comments having been deleted or removed, and some have argued that all comments should stay no matter their contents so as to reflect differing, diverse perspectives and views. After all, isn't this one of the underlying principles of a democracy? So here's a golden opportunity for you all to chip in with your argument and view, and no matter how you chose to put your perspective across, be it good, bad, rude, pleasant or obnoxious etc. I will not remove it - just for this particular post!

Humour, my personal taste and sentiment or belief aside, this debate is quite pertinent in my view. As news site we are worth nothing without your readership and backing. I therefore, propose that should there be enough of you as readers [or a general consensus] find that you cannot approve of my overall part in serving this website, I will be more than happy to tender my 'resignation' from my post as a KI Media team member, and retire myself off to Brunei where my good friend Heng Soy has been kept as guest at the Sultan's gracious pleasure and expense! Remember that postcard from the Sultan's Harem, when I thought Heng Soy was in Dubai on a cruise? Yes, bet you do...

Seriously, have your say, and School of Vice will abide by his/her own words, whichever way the majority of you are leaning towards. I won't cling on to my 'post' like Hun Sen does in defiance of people's will...

Unfortunately, [or fortunately, as the case maybe] KI Media team members are working independently of one another, more or less, so School of Vice has no power to veto or advance anything the other team members are up to.

With kindest regards,

A KI Média.
La quantité ne fait pas la qualité !
La pierre précieuse est difficile à trouver parmi les cailloux.
Ki Média est une école où ça s’apprend la liberté (anarchique) ; en fait :
-c'est une tribune où tout le monde peut utiliser sa liberté pour gueuler sa colère rouge de sang contre le tyran hs;

Dear School of Vice:
Since I'm online right now, I would say my part. I always stick to my words: Jendhamuni is always Jendhamuni and will always be Jendhamuni. I would never ever delete anyone's comments. Whatever one chooses to write, be it good or bad, it's his or her own Signature. Everyone is responsible for his or her action...

Here's my favorite quote, from an exile leader of Vietnam:
"Every thought you produce, anything you say, any action you do, it bears your signature." ~Thich Nhat Hạnh

Oh by the way, it was the first week I joined KI Media, when you were on a trip with Heng Soy... Your contribution is priceless for KI Media. Too early for retirement. Unless you want to work or Hun Xen :)

I would like sending these massages to the people around the world and to Cambodian people in Cambodia.

This Hun Sen Government is illegal government, 75 per cents of people are not agreed with this government. The King joins Parliamentary because Hun Sen force him, bear in mind Hun Sen hijacking the King.

Hun Sen cannot form this government because CPP lost the people votes, the truth result is CNRP 63 seats and CPP 60 seats after stole the votes from CNRP.

This government only one party that is very wrong, Cambodia is not communist country.

Around the world they are not recognize this Hun Sen Government, only two countries recognized are Vietnam and China. These two countries are robbing Cambodia right now.

This Hun Sen government is useless; the same people the same idea don’t know how to run the country, everyone looking for good opportunity to rub-off people lands and country resource.

In the past 28 years CPP government turned Cambodia upside down, lost their territory, people cannot fine the jobs, high rank government people rub-off people lands, throw people in jail because they speaks for their right, murder opposition people.
Today Cambodian people are living under International poverty line.

We are now living in the modern world; we don’t need this kind of abuse from government.

The bottom line is CPP government cannot run the country.

Cambodian people need new government.

CPP the Clear Choice for Ethnic Vietnamese Voters

The election campaign sweeping the country has not made it to Neang Sorn’s home, nor to any of her neighbors, in this floating village tethered to the banks of the Tonle Sap river on the edge of Phnom Penh.

“The CPP has never come to give us rice or kramas or anything. No CPP working group has come to talk to us. No one from the Cambodia National Rescue Party [CNRP] has come either,” she said.

But for Ms. Sorn, and probably many other members of Cambodia’s ethnic Vietnamese community, the choice of who to vote for on July 28 is an easy one.

“Most Vietnamese support the CPP because we see that they have made it easy for us to live here,” she said.

While the CPP has historic ties to Vietnam for providing the army that toppled the Khmer Rouge in 1979, opposition politicians have long used anti-Vietnamese sentiment among ethnic Khmer voters to rally support against the ruling party.

The opposition also has long accused the government of a lax immigration policy that has made the country inviting to immigrants from its larger neighbor.

Estimates on the actual number of ethnic Vietnamese citizens vary widely. According to a 2010 Ministry of Planning commune survey, ethnic Vietnamese number about 90,000, while the U.S. CIA’s World Fact Book, which is not an authoritative source, estimates the figure to be about 5 percent of the country’s 15.2 million population, or more than 700,000 people, making them the single largest ethnic group.

While the CNRP has promised to tone down its campaign rhetoric against the presence of Vietnamese in Cambodia, the harsh anti-Vietnamese platform previously taken by opposition leaders Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha have the country’s ethnic Vietnamese firmly in the ruling party’s corner.

Som Sophat, 58, whose Vietnamese name is Nguyen Van Hung, was born in Cambodia, fled during the Lon Nol regime and returned in 1988. He said he was granted official citizenship in 1993, just in time to vote in the country’s first democratic elections.

As the owner of an air-conditioner repair shop near Monivong Bridge, he has been a staunch supporter of Prime Minister Hun Sen, who he refers to simply by his honorific “Samdech,” and is a longtime member of the ruling CPP.

“Samdech allows Vietnamese people to make a good living. Samdech has a good policy because he does not force the deportation of Vietnamese,” he said, adding that this was in stark contrast to what he believed to be the opposition party’s policies.

“The CNRP doesn’t care about the Vietnamese because if they win the election, they will deport Vietnamese people and make our lives difficult,” he said, sitting in his small cement home, which is surrounded by cafes, motorepair shops and lumber depots, all with signs written in both Vietnamese and Khmer.

ĆÂḾ ÔŃ ŚÂṂĐÂĆḤ ĐÊĆḤÒ HÙŃ SÈŃ 3ÔÔÔ I!!!

Son Chhay, a National Assembly candidate for the CNRP in Phnom Penh, said that a concerted effort has been made by the opposition party this year to stress the implementation of existing immigration laws, rather than singling out Vietnamese immigrants, illegal or otherwise.

“As the opposition, we are careful that when we mention illegal migrants, we take our language more responsibly,” he said, adding “I think even in the past there has been misunderstanding about our policy, which is for respecting the law of the country, rather than being a racist stance.”

However, Cambodia’s ethnic Vietnamese voters are justifiably wary of the opposition party’s intentions if they are voted into power.

In past campaigns, Mr. Rainsy and Mr. Sokha repeatedly promised to rid the country of what they said was the menacing influence of the “yuon”—a term considered derogatory by some when referring to Vietnamese people—at all levels of society.

“If I win this election, I will send the yuon immigrants back,” Mr. Rainsy told an audience at Wat Phnom while on the campaign trail in 1998. “The government works for the yuon…. If the Sam Rainsy Party wins, there will be no more yuon puppets,” he added.

During that same campaign Mr. Sokha, then the secretary-general of the now-defunct Son Sann party, sent out a similar message.

“If we win, we will send all the yuons to Vietnam,” he told a crowd of hundreds in Takeo province.

The opposition’s tendency to play to fears born from Cambodia’s history of conflict with Vietnam has in many ways undermined its effort to lead a truly democratic movement in the country, said an NGO worker who has been working with Vietnamese and Khmer communities along the border for the past decade and asked not be named so his organization would not be seen as taking sides on such a sensitive issue.

“It is a shame that Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha have used anti-Vietnamese feelings to promote their political interests because they also say they want to be a democratic alternative,” he said.

Mr. Chhay has himself been outspoken about the threat of too many Vietnamese immigrants in the country. In a 2002 interview, he said: “Without serious action by the government, Cambodia will soon move closer to a deeper problem: We [Cambodians] will be a minority in our own land,” a statement that he said he still stands by today.

“I think it is the government’s responsibility to protect the border against so many illegal migrants. The Vietnamese seem to receive a privileged [immigration] policy, from the Vietnamese government in 1980s until the present time,” he said Tuesday, referring to the Vietnamese-backed People’s Republic of Kampuchea, which first promoted Mr. Hun Sen to prime minister in 1985.

But while the opposition insists that ethnic Vietnamese who are already naturalized Cambodian citizens have nothing to fear from a CNRP-led government, Quoc Thai, 31, who has lived in Cambodia for 10 years, says that he knows how the opposition leaders really feel about ethnic Vietnamese citizens like him.

Anonymous said...

ĆÂḾ ÔŃ ŚÂṂĐÂĆḤ ĐÊĆḤÒ HÙŃ SÈŃ 3ÔÔÔ III!!!

“Sam Rainsy has made it clear that he hates Vietnamese, so how can we vote for the opposition party,” Mr. Thai said at a coffee shop across from a bus station where he sells tickets.

“We support the CPP because if the CPP are elected, we can continue to live in Cambodia,” he said, adding that his own family’s integration into Cambodian society—his mother is a rice wholesaler at O’Russei market—has been smooth under the administration of Mr. Hun Sen.

And while widespread resentment toward ethnic Vietnamese persists in Cambodia today, violent manifestations of such feelings have eased significantly since the 1990s, when Vietnamese were the target of attacks and mob killings during times of political tension.

In the early 1970s, the U.S.-backed Lon Nol regime implemented pogroms aimed at ridding Phnom Penh of Vietnamese influence, killing hundreds of ethnic Vietnamese and forcing thousands more to flee back to Vietnam.

Those ethnic Vietnamese who remained in Cambodia were targeted for mass extermination once the Khmer Rouge took full control of the country; charges that the Khmer Rouge executed a full-fledged genocide against ethnic Vietnamese is among the charges yet to be heard in Case 002 at the Khmer Rouge tribunal. The Khmer Rouge continued to pillage what it said were Vietnamese villages up until the early 1990s.

In separate incidents in September 1998, mobs killed four ethnic Vietnamese in what were believed to be racially motivated attacks. Officials with the U.N. and the Vietnamese Embassy said the violence was related to anti-Vietnamese rhetoric being used by opposition politicians during protests of the previous month’s election results.

But while violence against ethnic Vietnamese is not currently a pressing concern, and the opposition party has now toned down its anti-Vietnamese rhetoric, the thinly veiled threats of a “foreign” influence on society continue to be part of Mr. Sokha’s stump speeches in this year’s campaign.

Kim Sophal, 62, who was sitting quietly on a bench listening to a hand-held radio along a narrow concrete street in Prek Pnov commune’s Kandal village, with the floating village just a few hundred meters away, said he too is worried about the influx of Vietnamese into the country.

“I am worried about more Vietnamese coming in because it will affect the economy. There won’t be jobs for Cambodians. Also, when more of them have citizenship they can control the mandate and vote for someone who supports only their interests,” Mr. Sophal said.

Village chief Chhim Phally said that there were 57 ethnic Vietnamese families in his village with citizenship, and dozens of others who had received permission to “temporarily” live on the banks of the river below his stilted wooden home.

“It’s not a problem because they just come here peacefully,” he said, noting that the main occupation of the ethnic Vietnamese villagers has shifted from fishing to construction work as fish stocks in the Tonle Sap have been steadily depleted.

“For life, [the presence of Vietnamese immigrants] is not difficult. But for business, it presents a challenge,” he said.

Dear Mr. School of Vice,

I have just become your fan so I would request that you stop thinking about retirement for now since Cambodia does need a child of your quality and education. In addition, KI Media would not be the same without your presence.

Freedom, though the word begins with “Free“, is not free. Freedom comes with responsibility. Without responsibility there is no freedom.

One simply cannot defame, hit or kill someone in the land of freedom of America and then walk FREE! One must be responsible for their own action.

Having said that a KI Media reader cannot hide behind computer screen using bad and obscene words to attack others whose opinions or even look they do not like without some consequences. These people may want to lower themselves to the level of rotten worms, but there are others in this forum who do not want to smell the worms. The consequence of using foul language at KI Media is quite mild, i.e., getting your comment erased. This action on the part of KI Media team must continue to discourage bad behaviours, foul languages and preserve the professionalism of the site. Remember that in real life people who defame others can be sued in the court of law.

Try going into a classroom in America and then say “This is America, the land of freedom; I can say whatever I want since that is guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States of America“; after that start your foul languages and see what happens!

A few points for all the readers of KI Media news:

1. The site is free so show our decent Khmer character by refraining from using foul languages to attack others and learn to say “Thank You“ to the staff every now and then.

2. If you are frustrated by whatever you read on this site, go outside of your house to a quiet place and then shout your frustration in whatever form you can think of to relieve your stress and anger. If this happens all the time, then perhaps KI Media is not a site you should visit since too much stress can eventually lead to high blood pressure, heart attack and eventually DEATH!
3. Be civilized or you become worse than Hun Sen whom you have accused of being uncivilized with his words.
4. To guarantee that your message is not erased, express it in a decent manner. In so doing people who read your different opinions will come to recognize your strength of argument and you never know you may have changed their thought!
5. Foul language turns people off and you have unintentionally lost your golden opportunity to express your view.

ki, you guys don't have to say much. just don't selectively deleting people's comment even if it is different from your or not on your side. and stop picking on individual who writes comments here. they are entitled to their freedom as much as you are with yours. if you continue to delete people's comment here, you are bias and tries hard to coral people to your side. not everyone here wanted to take your side, especially if you sound discriminating or bias. keep it professional. the readers don't come here to sabotage your scam your site, they just wanted to participate in making everyone understand the issues in camobodia. that's all!

and stop picking on their english or what have you. this is not an english class. just be grateful that people participate and give their two cents worth. read into the point they're trying to convey, leave their english grammar to their english teacher. thank you.

Hey SOV,

What do you want to be/do when you grow up, if you don't mind my asking? A scientist [if you are not already one]? A Scholar? A politician?

Off to pick the rest of the persimmon fruits before the squirrels finish them off at sunset here and while waiting for your answer...

Here we go... what makes you think I will answer your question to begin with?! Especially, when of all the questions you had to choose the one I have been avoiding answering all my life; growing up or not! And don't you know tyrants are not answerable to anyone['s question]?!

The truth is when I was growing up I was the one asking grown-ups what they wanted to do in life!! So, really, no one had an opportunity to ask me or give me the chance to think about what I wanted to do 'when I grow up' simply because they would be too busy trying to answer little School of Vice's questions!! Mind you School of Vice was a lot brighter then, [as compared to today] too, if somewhat of a bookworm!

Hope the fruit-picking trip is a success. Please leave some for the squirrels!

Take care,

PS: If you are not entirely happy with the answer above, do come back another time...

Dear school of vice,

Your contribution of effort, ideas, time are priceless. Many can learn more about the past and the current circumstances relating to their concerned homeland.

Ki media is in fact a club, therefore a rule should be adhered to, in order to promote sensible, relevant discussions.

Anyone who wish to continue abusive languages and irrelevant to guidelines provided, they certainly can stay out of the blogg and possibly create their own.

Please continue to stay with KI longer if you can.

Thank you very much, SOV, for taking the times between taking care of both Khmerization and KI-media, posting new articles/items [for Pissed off] etc..., and answering my only question. And quite frankly, I couldn't be happier with it. Believe me, I sincerely appreciate it.

Now, I like a girlie with attitudes like you, and believe me, I do. You said you are going to put up with any kind of languages just this once, on this particular post...remember that!

...off to Brunei where my good friend Heng Soy has been kept as guest at the Sultan's gracious pleasure and expense!?

What the fuck are you talking about? Has Heng Soy been staging his own death [presumably of stroke]? If so or not so, why the fuck are you even giving his location away? Who the fuck are you?

SOV, you girlie with attitudes:

Leave or stay on KI-Media is your fucking decision, nobody sticks a gun to your head. You're a grown up [or maybe not] as you've refused to answer to such a question - you are an intellectual, a scientist for crying out loud!!! Your political knowledge and writing skills [as compared to those Khmers, if you are at all khmer] are scarce. To care or to not care about those anonymous(es) opinions online here on KI-Media or anywhere else on the Internet for that matter is your fucking business to grow up on...
Is this a learning curve for you, I personally and seriously doubt it...

I ticked you off as a friend, whether you fucker wants to keep on writing or to quit is entirely up to you!

Thanks a million for all of your contributions to KI-Media and have a good life!

I know KI-Media owes you one...

Sov,

...Unfortunately, [or fortunately, as the case maybe] KI Media team members are working independently of one another, more or less, so School of Vice has no power to veto or advance anything the other team members are up to....

In reference to the above which you and I have been fully aware of, I don't care to want to know about anything else whether it be about you, Heng Soy...or anything about the cold dish revenge as you have alluded to...I don't care. I am just one of them like you as far as KI-Media is concerned except that you are the one I respect and envy a bit more...and you know why already!!!

Again SOV, stay with us or turn against us or being indifferent about us is entirely up to you...

I wish you nothing but the best!!! Sincerely yours,

.

Dear 'Son of Farmer',

Thank you for your kind sentiment.

Please do not humble yourself too much. Good and 'wise' people measure a person by the goodness of their heart and soul. Because of the quality or otherwise of my writing, many assume that I am somehow part of the Khmer elite and so forth, which couldn't be further from the truth. As can be seen from many of my frivolous remarks and postings, I am something of an 'anti-social' and 'anti-establishment' by nature and temperament; indeed just a simple soul who feels compassion for and solidarity with the down-trodden of this world of ours!

From my travels in places like Thailand, Singapore Cambodia and elsewhere, the poorest and the common people are often among the most noble, generous and genuine! I still remember a school girl who went out of her way to give me directions on how to get to a crocodile farm outside Bangkok; a poor peasant in Chieng Mai selling banana cakes returning my wallet I left behind despite the fact that I looked at but didn't buy any of his goods!; and a young woman who came out on her motorbike despite the heavy rain to give me the lift to the local police station when she learned I had lost my travel money in a bag in Krabi!

Typical School of Vice! - always managed to lose the wallet at times of need and crisis! After a night spent sleeping across the metal bars from the common criminals, School of Vice had learned nothing from the bitter experience and managed to get pick-pocketed again in another well-known city!

So there you go!

Thank you sir/madam. You earn so much respect from me because you are still calling me នាងចិន្ដា although you don't sound too happy about my activity. Hope is the thing that has wings, never dies...I wish I could fly though. See you around, sir/madam on this cyber world. You follow your dreams, and I will follow mine. Fair enough, I think. Hope you agree with me, for at least once :)
