For those competing for Miss California USA, remember the secret stone
in the crown. The royal blue sapphire in the center of the crown's heart
represents family and the hardship that my own family
endured being refugees from Cambodia. My mother, Connie, carried not
only me while she was pregnant but a handful of sapphires with her.
Together, with my father, Jerry, they built a successful business in
California. Now, we are the crown jeweler to Miss California USA. Never
forget the love and support that your friends and family has given you
to get you where you are! Always thank them! And bring something special
that has meaning to you, in your heart, to the pageant and shine like
the stars on Miss California USA stage in January! Good luck!!

Wonderful story! Proud of you, my Khmer people!
It is a wonderful story.
It would be even better, if you had mentioned your mother' s and father's Khmer names also, not just Connie and Jerry respectively.
Good story to be proud of, but probably Connie and Jerry are chen or youn assimilate into khmer nationality and take advantage from khmer resources.
