BANGKOK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Opponents of Thailand's prime minister and her brother, the exiled former prime minister, have launched an impeachment drive.

Petitions have begun circulating to impeach all members of Parliament who supported an amnesty bill, the Bangkok Post reported. The bill, backed by the governing Pheu Thai Party, was withdrawn after widespread protests.

Yingluck Shinawatra became prime minister after a general election in 2011. Her much older brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, was ousted by a military coup in 2006 while he was out of the country and still faces criminal charges.

Suthep Thaugsuban, who was deputy prime minister in the Democrat Party government, announced a petition drive late Friday, saying the aim was "to uproot the Thaksin regime." The Business Club for Democracy and a student organization announced their own petition campaigns.

Opponents of the current government held a rally in Bangkok Saturday with several thousand stopping at a tent to sign the Democrat Party petition.

Critics say the amnesty bill's primary goal is to ease Thaksin's return to power.

that's thailand's issue, just don't use cambodia's preah vihear temple and its lands south the french made map of 1907 as your politics because cambodia don't like thailand using our temple and territories for their internal political infighting, etc!
