ADB seeks cooperation with ACU

Cambodia Herald, November 30, 2013

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Asian Development Bank (ADB) seeks cooperation with Cambodia’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) to fight against corruption in projects that ADB funds.

In a meeting Saturday between Nuon Sothimon, ACU’s department chief of juridical affairs and Lorraine Wang-Reyes, ADB’s principal integrity specialist, they discussed cooperation in combating graft and the ability of the ACU to issue arrests.
"ADB would like to cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Unit, and in cases there is corruption in the framework of ADB aids, we will send the case to the unit to open an investigation," said Lorraine Wang-Reyes.

"ADB has a bureau for combating graft and integrity, which can inspect all projects funded by ADB, but ADB doesn’t have power to arrest anyone other than punishing them by delaying the aids."

ADB also wants to cooperate and provide training to the Anti-Corruption Unit on inspecting electronic equipment, accounting and other sectors, she said.

ADB hopes that there will be good cooperation in the fight against corruption, she added.

The Anti-Corruption Unit led by Senior Minister Om Yintieng, had arrested two Mondolkiri province electricity officials, and the deputy director of the Sihanouk Tax Department for corruption earlier in the week.

The ACU had also sent documents to the court to take legal action against the department chief, whose specific department, and name is yet to be announced.

11:16AM, I agree with you but there's no point requesting San Sowitt and his radio crew to do anything for a political party as they see themselves as a radio station that is independent and broadcasting the truth! (Or just their own opinions) So don't bother with them.

Sometime I think they are jealous that they received so much contributions on behalf of CNRP and not much goes to their radio station!

In the end we're all Khmer, we must learn to work with different or various Khmer personalities ! Please just continue our great work towards our Jeat Khemara!

Everyone has different Khmer ways to contribute so just continue with our wonderful ways of contribution!

Su Su all Khmer !

=This is pure bullshit statement about the ADB! The ADB is in Cambodia to make a profit just like the garment factories! Who doesn't know that the ACU is the most corrupted institution in Cambodia! The ADB will cooperate with the criminals as long as the ADB make a profit!

ADB = principal + interest
