Samdach Dek Cho Hun Sen declared that he refused to accept the title of “Great Supreme Statesman” that was proposed by a group of students. During a speech given at a building inauguration on Wednesday, the prime minister said that he does not have the qualification necessary to accept this title, he said that King Jayavarman VII only should bear this title. Hun Sen asked the group of students to understand him, he said that the students’ good intention could kill his political life should he be too ambitious with this type of titles. Hun Sen said that he does not have the qualification to accept this title which normally should be bestowed by the king. An anonymous group of students initiated the idea of bestowing Hun Sen the title of “Great Supremo Statesman” on the Bayon radio station owned by Hun Sen’s daughter.
