On Sunday, during a speech given at a pagoda inauguration in Phnom Penh, Hun Sen said that at their death, his critics will be sent to the “100th level of hell,” The Cambodia Daily reported in today’s edition. He also indicated that any exaggeration against him will dissolve “like salt in water” and those who dispensed these exaggerations will “have their mouth sealed shut” in the next lives. Cambodia’s strongman also revealed that he “also used black magic” against those who criticize him, and that those who have been cursed will become sick. Khieu Kanharith, government spokesman, tried to dismiss Hun Sen’s boasting as being a joke, whereas, opposition leader Sam Rainsy said such harangue is not becoming of a leader, and that Hun Sen’s use of the opposition SRP party name was a veiled threat to CPP party insiders so that they “remain local to the strongman.”
