“During Sihanouk’s era,” one is satisfied with having elections for Members of Parliament (MPs) at the National Assembly.
And, within the Parliament, these MPs proceeded to the election of a Personality of their choice (or, rather, the choice of among their majority) to become the “Prime Minister” or “President of the Council of Ministers.”
Currently (2007), one can see Political Parties (even “Small” ones) officially proclaiming that they (Party x, y, z…) have and present to the Nation, to all the Compatriots: A, B, C, D, etc… as their respective candidates to the position of Prime Minister, Head of the RGC (Royal Government of Cambodia) (in direct competition against the uneatable, supremely prestigious, extremely loved and admired by the Khmer People, Samdech Akka Moha Senapatey Decho Hun Sen).
