Phnom Penh –At 10AM on 30 December 2011, SRP Lawyer Choung Chou-ngy discussed at a press conference held at the SRP headquarters about yesterday’s information regarding his arrest. He indicated that there was indeed a hot pursuit conducted against him, but because of his good deeds, he was able to escape.
Regarding questions from reporters on whether there was an arrest made against him or not? Chuong Chou-ngy indicated that due professional lawyer pressure, he cannot talk about it.
He indicated that from today on, i.e. on 04 January 2012, he will shave his head and will don white robe to follow the dharma path so that the court, the prosecutors and the judges will follow the letter of the law so that they may provide justice to the entire population.
Choung Chou-ngy added: “From 04 to 10 January 2012, I will pray in front of the Kandal court, the Appeal court, the Supreme court, the ministry of Justice and I will move to the Cambodian Bar Association.”
Chuong Chou-ngy claimed also that there were 3 stops erected to arrest him: the first one was at Sala Lekh Pram (on the way to Kampong Chhnang), the second one in Kampong Chhnang and the third one in Prek Kdam (mid-way between Phnom Penh and Kampong Chhnang). The pursuit allowed him to escape, but he did not talk much about it, only to say that he is facing difficulties.

ភ្នំពេញ: មេធាវីប្រចាំគណបក្សសមរង្ស៊ី លោក ជួង ជូងី បានបញ្ជាក់ក្នុងសន្និសីទកាសែត កាលពីវេលាម៉ោង ១០ ព្រឹក ថ្ងៃទី៣០ ខែធ្នូ ឆ្នាំ២០១១ នៅទីស្នាក់ការកណ្តាលគណបក្សសមរង្ស៊ី ស្តីពី ដំណឹងនៃការចាប់ខ្លួនលោក កាលពីថ្ងៃម្សិលមិញនោះថា ពិតមានការដេញប្រផាប់ចាប់ប្រភីង ទៅលើរូបលោក ក៏ប៉ុន្តែដោយសារតែអំពើល្អរបស់លោក ទើបធ្វើឲ្យលោកបានរួចខ្លួន។
ទាក់ទងទៅនឹងសំនួរបស់អ្នកាសែត បានសួរថា តើមានការចាប់ខ្លួន លោកមែនដែរ ឬទេ? គឺលោក ជួង ជូងី បានបញ្ជាក់ថា ដោយសារតែគំនាប ផ្នែកវិជ្ជាជីវៈមេធាវី ធ្វើឲ្យលោក មិនអាចនិយាយបានទេ។
លោកមេធាវី បានបញ្ជាក់ថា “ ចាប់ពីថ្ងៃនេះទៅ គឺនៅថ្ងៃទី៤ ខែមករា ឆ្នាំ២០១២ លោកនឹងកោរសក់ ស្លៀកពាក់ស ភាវានាតាមបែបផ្លូវធម៌ ដើម្បីឲ្យតុលាការ និងព្រះរាជអាជ្ញា ចៅក្រម គោរពច្បាប់តុលាការ ដើម្បីផ្តល់ភាពយុត្តិធម៌ ដល់ពលរដ្ឋទូទាំងប្រទេស ” ។
លោកមេធាវី ជួង ជូងី បានបន្តថា “ ចាប់ពីថ្ងៃទី៤ ខែមករា ដល់ថ្ងៃទី១០ ខែមករា ឆ្នាំ២០១២ លោកនឹងទៅសំណាក់ធម៌ នៅមុខសាលាដំបូងខេត្តកណ្តាល សាលាឧទ្ធរណ៍ តុលាការកំពូល នៅក្រសួងយុត្តធម៌ និងទៅកាន់គណៈមេធាវី ” ។
លោក ជួង ជូងី ក៏បានអះអាងដែរថា កាលពីម្សិលមិញនេះ មានការស្ទាក់ចាប់លោក ចំនួន ៣ ចំណុច ដោយចំណុចទី១ នៅសាលាលេខ៥។ ចំណុចទី២ នៅកំពង់ឆ្នាំង និងចំណុចទី៣ នៅព្រែកក្តាម។ ចំពោះការដេញនេះ បានធ្វើឲ្យលោកគេចរួចខ្លួន ហើយលោកមិនធ្វើការនិយាយអ្វីច្រើនជាងនេះទេ ដោយសារតែ លោកមានផលពិបាក៕

This is the crucial time that western ambassies, UN, EU and conscious Cambodians must come out with strong voices to protest to the government of PM Hun Sen in order to guarantee the safety and freedom of Mr. Choung Chou-ngy.
Failure to do so will send justice, freedom and democracy achieved so far (if there are any at all!) to their doom.
Don't just waste the tax money of your countries on the Cambodian government without using its leverage to force PM Hun Sen to respect the independence of the courts.
Cambodia cannot just depend on China and her aids for its economic sustainability and growth. It needs all the markets with low or zero tariff it can get to meet its objective growth target.
Hun Sen can be pushed back and he will pull back when confronted with dire consequences that may affect his position. He is a clever and quite practical politician when it comes to dirty politics.
Western countries need to do both to help Cambodia and her people achieve not only economic prosperity, but also guaranteed freedom and justice.
