A sport utility vehicle containing a Ministry of Land Management secretary of state and four young women plowed into the pavement in front of the US Embassy and flipped over late Thursday night, police said Monday.

The speeding Mitsubishi Pajero carrying Funcinpec Secretary of State Keo Khemara turned over and slammed into a Toyota Camry belonging to an embassy security guard at about midnight, said Sear Kim Suor, a municipal traffic police officer working on the case.

The four women "were very sexy. Their blouses just hid their breasts," Sear Kim Suor said, adding that one of the women, 18-year-old Srey Lak, was hospitalized.

"They were speeding" and police believe Srey Lak was drunk at the wheel, Sear Kim Suor said. The women were all aged between 18 and 25 years and worked as coffee shop waitresses, he added.

Uninjured Keo Khanara, 50, visited traffic police headquarters shortly after the accident to ask police to remove the distinctive green government license plates from his car before it could be photographed, Sear Kun Suor said.

He added that Keo Khemara bought a new car worth $4,700 for the US embassy security guard, and has retrieved his own vehicle.

Contacted by telephone, Keo Khemara said he had allowed Srey Lak to drive his car back from a birthday party they had attended because he was intoxicated.

He denied a report in Khmer-language newspaper Koh Santhepheap on Saturday that he was romantically involved with Srey Lak, saying that the young lady was a girlfriend of a friend.

"She is not my mistress. This was a very unfortunate incident for me," he said, adding that Srey Lak is in fact 30. The women "were all just friends from the birthday party."

Srey Lak was not drunk, and lost control of the vehicle because she became concerned that he was ill, he said.

Keo Khemara also confirmed that he has replaced the car belonging to the US Embassy security guard.

US Embassy spokesman Jeff Daigle said the case has been resolved Deputy Municipal Police Chief Chev Hak also said the case is now closed, as the guard's vehicle was replaced.

Yee! I like the way of Cambodian people resolve the issue peacefully. They become more mature. They use money,
prestigious, and power to deal in a smart way plus combining with a little spicy diplomacy, everything falls into place. Oh my godness, I learn alot from you guys, thank.
Next time when I go to Cambodia, I will carry more(Ds) with me, in case of running into police and
Cambodian Wild Eastern System of justices. Can I hire someone to do stupid things in Cambodia?

Based on the graphic description of the girls' dresses, I'd like to have coffee at their place everyday! Does anyone know the name of their coffee shop?;)

On a more serious note, the girls are between 18 and 25 years of age and it seemed they were not forced to accompany that official. So, they know what they're doing at their own free will, and they did not intentionally commit any crimes.

Obviously, any dismeanour by officials from political parties other than the ruling party would certainly be fully exploited by some media outlets, because they know that they would not be attacked by those burly bodyguards!

Of course, we all know how money happens to flow into the pockets of the high-ranking officials regardless of their political affiliations. That's why they can afford the best cars, girls, and other status symbols. If this incident had involved some rich kids (steavs) from powerful families, that guard would have been roughed up without any compensations, and there is nothing the traffic police can do about it. This official replaced the guard's car with a new one without much delay. So, please let him off this time.
