The Sihanoukreach Buddhist university had fired last week Tieng Narith, a History professor, for publishing a controversial book severely criticizing the Hun Sen government and the police leadership, as well as publishing rumors and nationalist ideas. “He conceived this book solely on the basis of his personal opinions and without consulting our committee, therefore, the [book] content severely attacks the government. We warned him several times, in vain,” Hing Yann, the rector of the university, justified his action. Tieng Narith, who has started teaching three months ago, said that he wanted to impart his knowledge to his students who are monks, so they understand the current event.
[RFA reported that Tieng Narith is a professor of law and political science. His book accuses Cambodian leaders who are involved in the killings during the grenade attach on March 30, 1997. The book also attacks a number of senior government leaders.]

The professor is fired because he does his job. any theaching related to politics, laws, or history must be reflected to the corrent situation in the world. We should teach students how to think rather than what to think or brainwash them like the communist style.
He was a great independent professor that I have known in Cambodia. We should support him if we can.
We should teach students how to think not brainwash them.
How do we support the professor? Anyone who stand up to the current dictatorship regime should be supported.
Any books or publications must go through AH HUN SEN government first? But the Vietcong allowed their population to publish all kinds of books and they even allowed their population to translate foreign book in Viet language! This is the one way for the Viet to promote their language over Cambodian language and even in Cambodia the Viet have many and many books to read in their language and Cambodian don't have shit!
If AH HUN SEN restricted all kind of publication then AH HUN SEN is not promoting Cambodian language!
Courageous professor !!!
Tieng Narith, I strongly support you and your achievemnet. Your publication is absolutely right because you have enough evidence to write this book and the information is based on facts.
In democratic country, it is simple and right to critizize leaders because they are public people. However, in HUN SEN's communist government back by treacherous Vietnam Gov't, it is dangerous to critisize this guy and his dogs.
However, I think that Cambodian people both inside and outside the country support you and hope this publication will spread all over the country and the world so that people know the evil deeds of HUN SEN and the communist gov't.
May God take good care of you and wish you good luck, Tieng Narith.
