The Cambodia Human Rights Action Committee (CHRAC), an organzation which regroups 23 NGOs, denounced on Saturday the failure of the local authorities to solve a land dispute in the Sesan district, Stung Treng province. 300 ethnic minority people gathered Saturday morning in the Chrop village to denounce the theft of their lands by government. “The villagers did not give me the chance to explain,” the district chief complained. However, his arguments did not convince the villagers who spread themselves on the road to face armed soldiers who are paid to work as private guards to protect the concession.
