The Sam Rainsy Party proposed yesterday substantial rewards to all workers involved in the organization of the commune election who would report to him proofs of any case of frauds or irregularities during the vote or the counting of the votes.
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy sent an announce yesterday to the workers of the National Election Committee (NEC) in which he promises substantial rewards to any workers who will report to him documented cases of frauds or irregularities during the commune election. An employee of the Commune Election Committee (CEC) will receive $300, an employee for the Provincial Election Committee (PEC) will receive $3,000, whereas an employee of the NEC will receive $30,000 if proof of frauds can be brought up on cases where the citizens would be prevented from voting, or in cases involving the casting of ballots, or cases of irregularities in the vote counting.
These employees are invited to contact the SRP which will organize a private meeting with Sam Rainsy. The SRP also guarantees the anonymity of its informants. In case of threat against the employee, the party promises to obtain for the person, asylum in the US or in a European country.
Even though he refuses to comment on other political parties during the election period, Khieu Kanharith, the government spokesman, finds this SRP initiative “comical.” “It’s funny that this party tries to look for people who want to go live overseas. One wonders why it spends so much money on employees who are badmouthing, rather than helping the poor. Nevertheless, it’s good news for all those who never travel abroad,” Khieu Kanharith commented.
Kul Panha, Comfrel director, said that the SRP presented a “good idea.” “It’s a good way to uncover frauds and to encourage these employees to perform a good job. Nevertheless, if these employees are honest, they should denounce any irregularity without being offered any financial rewards,” Kul Panha said.

well done but do not go to the moon to complain after the election... if not k idiocy mediocrity will accuse you of being fishy.... or foolish!
This is good initiatives to overlook the fraudulance made by CPP. But the conseqences would be strictly mechanized such as:
1. Set a very reliable committees to check whether the information is accurate or just to make things worse.
2. CPP will consider to give money more than SRP award to those who dare perform fraud.
However, this is a very good idea...but it is double-edged sword.
As I can predict, CPP is having many tactics to fraud the votes.
Good on you MR SAM, !
Jey yo cANDLE'S flame..
Hey Khieu Kanharith,
You think your party CPP (Corrupted People Party) helped the poor and did not commit any voting fraud. You will see your day ending without any country to go thru with Hun Zen. Remember history repeated itself. If you're smart along with your CPP comrades, all of you need to change the course. One day your properties, will, and cars will be confiscated by the new government. No matter where you hided your money, the new government will bring it back to the people of Cambodia that all of you robbed.
Remember the history:
1970: Kicked out Sihanouk regime
1975: Kicked out Lon Nol regime
1979: Kicked out Khmer Rouge regime
1993: Kicked out Youn from Cambodia
2008: Kicked out Hun Sen and CPP
History will change in 2008.
