Prince Norodom Ranariddh and opposition leader Sam Rainsy revealed on 03 April, about the secret meetings held between the two parties in order to look for a common strategy to form a national movement to compete with the CPP for the leadership of the country.
From Paris, France, Prince Ranariddh told Rasmei Kampuchea by phone, in the afternoon of 03 April that, following the 01 April commune election, the first step taken by the prince and by NRP was to gather the force of all democrats and royalists. The prince said that he supported Sam Rainsy’s call for the unification of democrats and royalists.
The prince said that he and Prince Thomico, president of the Sangkum Jatiniyum Front Party (SJFP), agreed with each other prior to the election, that following the commune election, Prince Thomico will merge his party with the NRP. Prince Ranariddh added also: “At the same time, I talked with the SRP twice already.”
According to Prince Ranariddh, the meeting between the NRP and the SRP started on 02 April, one day after the commune election in Cambodia. He added that the two parties met each other at 3:00 PM on 03 April. The goal of the meeting was to find a new common strategy. He said that up to now, meetings between the NRP and SRP did not bring any result yet, however, he had already agreed on a number of points.
The two meetings between the two parties took place in Phnom Penh and were attended by senior party officials, according to the prince.
Besides the SJFP and the SRP, the prince plans to attract Funcinpec party members to join the NRP also. He added: “Maybe, I can gather Funcinpec members to join the NRP, except for the leaders of the coup de party.”
Opposition leader Sam Rainsy recognized that there were indeed meetings held between his party and the NRP. He told Rasmei Kampuchea in the afternoon of 03 April that: “We did start discussing to feel and to find out about our goals.” He added that the SRP wants to request the formation of movement of democrats in order to rebuild the country.
Even though he had experienced both “good and bitter” relationships with Prince Ranariddh, Sam Rainsy said that he put asides his personal feelings and he is giving more weight to the national interest. Sam Rainsy said that because his party receives the most votes, it should lead. In this manner, he can lead the movement of democrats and not allowing it to vacillate.
Sam Rainsy also talked about the ease of forming a movement of democrats at this juncture because his party received one the largest number of votes among all other parties, except for the CPP which received the largest number of votes during the 01 April election.

This is a good tendency to democratize Cambodia. United we survive, seperated we die. However, SRP should be careful with Norodom Rannarith. He is a very corrupted leader who always value money before all things.
Communist party supported by Yuan understood well how to lure and eliminate royalist in Cambodia, especially Prince Rannarith.
Democratic Coalition Movement (DCM) would be sound great, by a firm by-law and fair position.
The tendency of Cambodia will be only two parties like other developed countries. This is savvy for Cambodia.

Type of guy such as Ranaridth will find in advance his own interests after nation's (Dollars/some Temporary partial power/Srey, Sra.. } they are so easy to be spoiled with those things...Good tactics of their competitors(CPP) to defeat them.. it is dificult to say that their competitor use evil means, normally this tactics/strategy are to be applied worldwide especially in developing countries.....
