Frenchman: Phnom Penh is a remarkable city -sic!-

Sambok Chab forced eviction: one of Kep Chuktema's trademark for the development of the city of Phnom Penh. Yvon Roé d'Albert, the outgoing French ambassador, praised Kep Chuktema for turning Phnom Penh into a remarkable city. Ambassador Roé d'Albert seems to be totally oblivious of the miseries suffered by Phnom Penh citizens during these forced evictions.

Yvon Roé d’Albert, the French ambassador to Cambodia, said that Phnom Penh city is currently turning into a remarkable city which attracts more attention than before when people mainly talked about Siem Reap city. The French ambassador made this statement on Monday to Kep Chuktema, the Phnom Penh city governor, when he was bidding goodbye to the governor during the occasion marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Cambodia. The French ambassador said that people have praised the Phnom Penh governor because he brought in a lot of development to the city in the past few years. In turn, Kep Chuktema thanked the French party for helping set up the master plan for the city of Phnom Penh, and that this master plan constitutes an important document setting the development directives for the city of Phnom Penh from 2005 to 2015.

Mr.Kep is a great man to build Phnom Penh? How much this ignorant French ambassador receive bribery from Mr.Kep.

Mr.Kep is good only, as I know, to ban all peaceful demonstrations....

If I compare him to H.E.Sophara, Mr.Kep is under zero in improving the capital city

French always say nice things about you but usually means the opposite. So be very careful.

I don't think so. It is quite
obvious that the city should be
clean of rat's nests if you want
to look forward to some big
investors in the future. Thus,
I too would like to thank Kep
Chuktema for his hard work to
make this possible for all of us.

We love you, Governor!
