The World Bank (WB) report issued on Tuesday 22 June shows that there is a wide wealth gap between the rich and the poor in Cambodia. Up to now, people living in rural areas still remain poor, whereas those living in urban areas have become more prosperous.

Along with the publication of the WB report, Prime Minister Hun Sen also recognizes the growing poverty of people living in rural areas.

In an outline of a plan detailing 5 key priority policies his government intent to put into application for the short to medium range term, in order to share equal benefits to all the Cambodian population, Hun Sen recognizes that the growing poverty is a major cause of vulnerability in the country.

Hun Sen said: “Even though we have made remarkable and proud achievements in our past effort to reduce poverty, the Royal Government also acknowledges that the vulnerability of becoming poor again is still high for a certain vulnerable group of people, especially those living in the rural areas due to health and unpredicted reasons such as natural disasters.”

It should be noted that in the past, opposition officials often noted the growing poverty for rural people that is caused by drought, loss of natural resources such as forests etc… But their claims have always been rejected by all CPP officials.

Hun Sen uses to see his entourage and family living in big villas ,dancing in his daughter's Spark Karakoe parlour, driving Land Cruiser cars....., spending lavish money.
He think Khmer people are enjoying good living condition like them, by making comparison between the present time and the time under the khmer Rouge regime.
Being blind is not a problem. But pretending to be blind and to be flattered by the LECHE- BOTTE entourage is the worst problem.

Wow, Ah Hun Kwak just recognizes the growing of Khmer poverty after decades of fucking blindness. This is a moron idiot and the worst leader in the world.

Please give a big applause for PM Hun Sen for recognizing the growing poverty of Khmer people living in rural areas. PM Hun Sen has made a big progress.

So now, how do you feel about the reports published by Global Witness and the UN reports by Yash Ghai?

Samdech HUN SEN will win the next general election in 2008! For Samdech HUN SEN, this is just another round of rice and gift distribution for dirt poor Cambodian people to get their vote!

I don't think Mr. Sam Rainsy can do the same like our beloved Samdech HUN SEN because Mr. Sam Rainsy is so uncorrupted and so called Mr. Clean!

Most Cambodian people said that by nature every Cambodian leaders are corrupted and greedy if given the chance including Mr. Sam Rainsy party too will be corrupted!
Base on this argument, it is so true for me so far! I just don't know how Cambodia as a country can be change for the better!

If Cambodian leaders know what is right and they are not willing to do what is right then Cambodia as a country will continue to suffer! I am just sickened tired of all the killing and more killing will not change anything! How can anyone change something that is endowed by nature?!

Even though Hun Sen he just blind one eye but he can see clearly on very thing to protect his power, But he never see the poorest people that Hun Sen officials sucks peoples' blood for years.
may be one of his eye can see the things that protect his power only.
and one other eye can see of what the people thirsty and need and unfortunatly this eye was blind for long time and so he could't see the stavation come through to the people.

It would be nice if KI stops highlighting and pretending to be the guide in what is important. I think the readers know what is important. Let them be the judges. Also, it would be a lot easier for the eyes.

Plus doing so is rude to the journalists who actually the one writing the pieces. Give them some credit and respect, would you?
