Kem Sokha, leader of the fledgling Human Rights Party, said on Monday that he will contemplate on joining force with the Sam Rainsy Party if this party will relinquish its idea of sole control of the party and it agrees to a 2-term limit for the party presidency. Sam Rainsy, whom observers think that his party may lose some votes to Kem Sokha’s fledgling party, said that he welcomes the invitation to unite with the HRP, but he said that no pre-conditions should be imposed. Sam Rainsy told The Cambodia Daily: “I welcome Kem Sokha’s request but there should be no conditions.” He said that the SRP is the core and the lead in the democratic movement. Even though there are many people participating in the HRP congress, this does not mean that it has a lot of support.” On his side, Kem Sokha said that if the SRP agrees to the two points above, then he will discuss about the unification of the SRP. Kem Sokha also added that: “Sam Rainsy is not a god and not a king for people to live under his shade.”

is true that Mr. “Sam Rainsy is not a god and not a king for people to live under his shade.” but Mr. Kem Sokha must not forget that Mr. Sam Rainsy did his time and went to hell to get where he is right now! When Sam Rainsy party members got blown to pieces and got murder left and right and where was Mr. Kem Sokha?!

The rough long road is ahead of you Mr. Kem Sokha and please don't make mistake twice in politic because people will remember you!

Unification of Human Right Party and Sam Rainsy party would be good for democraty in Cambodia. I do support the pre-condition set by HRP. For a democratic party, nobody should be president of the party forever, otherwise there is no much different fro communist party. However, I feel that it is almost impossible for the two parties to merge into one.
These two parties have to unify if they want any chance to defeat CPP.
May the good be winner...

Do not merge just wait to see how strong Kem Sokha is, let him parking with SRP until 2008. Kem Sokha look like hot temper person lik hun sen. Kem Sokha is good at barking with hun sen. SRP will believed to lead the country better because he has economic skill. Let Kem Sokha bark with hun sen about the democracy.

It is said to see Mr. Kem Sokha just stepped one step then pretends to be an importance one. This is the usual weakness of some the so-called Cambodian democratic person.

As political party, Kem Sokha has proved nothing. Instead of laying down his policies and prove that they are working, he starts to attack a person who used to support him.He forgot that after 1998 general election, he came to see this person almost every night in consulting and wanted to come to his party.

Mr. Kem let take my advise. Try to survive youself first before you ask the other who are more stronger than you, at least, to come to you.

Already extremist posturing! This wouldn't help Cambodia at all. One should not flab one's wings and crow that loud after that congress. One should bear in mind all the times that others exist and they may have done something positive and at greater risks. One should appreciate their work.

Buddhist middle path or moderation should be the way.

But I'm not a politician!

We should wait and learn more about Khem Sokha and his political party before any negotiation is taken place. Khem Sokha is a good guy and we will give that chance to prove it politically.

I totally reject to the idea of shorts and calling names. I think it is so low way not a high way in a person.

Khem Sokha's attitude is basically extreme. He is baseless to pre-conditioning SRP in democratic coalition.

In reality one party, with long one president is not a big obstacle to development democracy. But in reality, one country one leader (prime minister) is really dangerous to the nation.

1. One party with one long president doesn't affect bad to the development of democracy in that party when the party has democratic regulation. It depends on the by-laws of the party. Sometime head of the party or president of one organization doesn't have much power when decision is according major voice or it is limited by the org. rule. Ex. King of Cambodia or head of state has been limited power by national constitution.

2. SRP has reason for its keeping same leader. Cambodian people are absolutely, mostly voting or trusting person not policy or regulation. Ex. they voted for King Sihanouk. So Rainsy should be idealistic person to attract people. Cambodian people need longer time to walk on the path of law or regulation because they are still less educated. So Rainsy should stand as a main person to attract people for a while in SRP.

3. The problem of SRP has its rational perspective. The name of party is his own name, so it is legitimate keeping Rainsy in position. And this party name has come from the losing in Cambodian shadow court to reclaim Cheat Khmer Party back during the internal division.

4. Rainsy can stand as president of SRP in case of need now. But he cannot ignore or neglect the recent movement triggered by Khem Sokha. He should do some more broad envisioning plan to have a strong party administration. Doing so he can employ more effective members and strengthening this largest democratic party in Cambodia.

5. He should observe from CPP that they don't have rule to limit president of the party, but they need to adjust the administrative organization. CPP is standing strong, beside of huge coffer and power, we have to accept that they also have strong base of administration.

6. In this case, what is the intention of Khem Sokha to blame Rainsy with such slightest error to call for vote? It is really essential for Khem Sokha to join with SRP but it must not pre-conditioning with such subversive perspective.

Khem Sokha should beging their stretegy to gain votes by facing with CPP. There are uncountable errors in CPP:
1. Corruption
2. Dictator with one prime minister
3. Illegal immigrants Yeaknam
4. Land grabbing
5. Culture of impunity
6. Yeaknam employement
7. Controversial border treaty
8. Vote disfranchisements
9. Power centralizing in small group person of government
10. Education and Children competency...etc
11. Not independent court and assembly...etc
12. Poor condition, poverty, child birth rate of mortality, social gap...etc

Dear Loke Om Dr. Lao Mong Hay,

May I hobnob with you just for a bit here please?

Re:
http://www.khmer-network.com/forum/sujetKN-5567.html

Dear compatriot,

Lao Mong Hay is a Khmer jurist and sociologist who had studied and taught in Canada. He is in various ways appreciated in Cambodia. He fought during the Vietnamese occupation in the rank and file of FNLKS of Sonn Sann where he had made acquaintance with Kem Sokha. He then left the formation of Sonn Sann movement to work for a NGO (nongovernmental organization). A man of independent mind, LMH, "bete noire" to PM Hun Sen (black beast, thorn in the flesh/pain in the neck), maintains close relationships with khmer progressist democrats which among others are Dr KIM VIEN, PUNG CHIV KEK, MAM SONANDO, the buddhist monk YiHUTH. LMH is more of a theorist than a practitioner. By joining Kem Soha's party, he will put his prestige and respectability at stake contrary to those independant personalities who refuse to. A group of ex-members of the center for human right recognized for their probity, had brought to court reprehensible acts reproached to Kem Sokha for his management of CCHR. Moreover, Kem Sokha's chaotic political journey, his stiff/tense relationships with Sam Rainsy and the ambiguity of his agreement/arrangement with Hun Sen are not of nature to preserve Kem Sokha's worthiness/respectability. To my view, I think that LMH (Lao Mong Hay) is more benificial to Khmer society by staying out of the political arenas.

HRP is not the independant party because we know very
well two new members of HRP is that :

- Mr Chan Ven (he is CPP member and was Minister of
Education during Youn domination in Cambodia 1979-1989).

-Mr Pen Sovann is always Youn spy (he is released by Youn
Hanoi in 1992 after 10years in jail at his house in yanoi).
The wife of Pen Sovann is youn lived in hanoi.

Chan Ven and Pen Sovann are Youn servant and Youn
spy. They also belong to CPP (Communist Pro youn Party).

Those are the same tricks that Mr Ung Phan (member of CPP
central committee) in Funcipec 1993 and during coup of 5-6 july 1997

Mr Kem Sokha had tendance to CPP (Communist Pro youn
Party) too

So HRP is not really an independant party or really brings
Democracy to Cambodia people

Yeah, IRI brings democracy to Cambodia People. But not
Kem Sokha because Kem Sokha did not belong to IRI..

What Kem Sokha think about ah Pen Sovann (youn spy) and ah Chan Ven (youn servant)
