After the KR Tribunal (KRT) charges Kaing Kek Iev also known as Duch, the former Tuol Sleng prison chief, as one of the suspect among a group of 5 former KR leaders, there is an emerging trend that demands that more people involved in the killings of people under the KR regime be brought to face justice. Opposition leader Sam Rainsy said: “Why do we have only 5 accused, if there are more than 5, who will be the most responsible?” Seng Theary, Director of the Center for Social Development (CSD) said the tribunal should judge more people to justify its $56 million budget. Seng Theary told The Cambodia Daily that Cambodian people are not pleased that there are only 5 suspects who will be brought to the dock. Mrs. Ven Ra, a former Khmer Rouge and niece of Ta Mok, also asked why the charges are only brought against Duch and a few former KR leaders only? Ven Ra who is president of the SRP party in Pailin municipality, said that a number of former Khmer Rouge cadres are traitors to the nation and to their own people, and they also ordered the killing of people. She asked: “Why these are not charged and they are currently working for the government still.”

She was right. It doesn't matter, if you work for the current government. You commited the crime, you pay or get out of the government position.

The new government should be squeeky cleaned. No crime commited and no former KR's officer in the government body.
