The US embassy in Phnom Penh announced the inauguration of its website in Khmer, which will launch on 16 August 2007. Piper A. W. Campbell, the US Chargé d’Affaires at the embassy, and Khieu Kanharith will be the guests of honor during the inauguration ceremony. The new website, which will go live to the public on the same morning as the launch, will be accessible from the Embassy's homepage at http://cambodia.usembassy.gov/. The site will have more than 800 pages of information on the U.S.-Cambodian bilateral relationship; American society, culture and institutions; and complete procedures for applying for visas to the U.S. The site has been in development for more than 18 months, and users will be able to view content using both Khmer Unicode and the legacy Limon S1 fonts.

KI-Media note: The US embassy believes that this is the first-ever foreign embassy website to engage the Cambodian public entirely in the Khmer language.
