The opposition leader of Cambodia, who was re-elected for a fourth mandate, is determined to openly reform the party in order to reach victory in the upcoming 2008 general election. He is also determined, once again, to lead the (opposition) party through free democracy.
During his party re-election, Sam Rainsy also thanked the NDI (US National Democratic Institute) and the IRI (US International Republican Institute) which supported the SRP reform since the beginning. He added that the SRP reform is a reform that no other political party in Cambodia can bring about.
Sam Rainsy said: “Our reform was undertaken for the past 3 years, this is very meaningful, Brothers and Sisters. And all of us are very proud because what we have done, nobody can undertake it like us, nobody dare to undertake it like us.”
During the congress, the SRP modified several points of its party statute. Eng Chhay Eang, a representative of the party steering committee, said that the reform of the party internal structure is an important stepping stone that could lead the SRP to victory in 2008.
Eng Chhay Eang said: “For the party structure, we have set up elections from the bottom all the way to the top, that is from villages, communes, districts, provinces. Therefore, we need to officially include the party structure and its institutions in the (party) statute. We eliminated one institution: the national advisory committee, and we replace it with the party structure at the base.”
The fourth SRP congress was participated by 5,000 delegates coming from cities and provinces from all over the country, as well as by embassy representatives, and IRI and NDI representatives.
Preab Kol, a high-ranking representative of the NDI, said that any party which put into practice the reform supported by the technical team of NDI, can truly lead the country towards democracy, if this party wins the election and becomes the ruling party.
The Sam Rainsy party was formed in November 1995. Its original name was the Khmer Nation Party. SRP now has 24 seats at the National Assembly, it plays the role of the major opposition party in Cambodia, and it maintains a second rank in terms of number of votes received during the past commune election in 2007.

Hun Sen 's boss who is the Youn Hanoi has carefully calculated all of the possible risks for 2008 Election. Therefore, Husen could win easily, not because of a fair election, but because of the cheating from the CPP. Here the listing of its cheating strategy list:
. About 4 to 5 million Youns who are currently living in Cambodia are eligible for voting
. National Election Committe (NEC) is supporting CPP for fairly and legally cheating
. CPP has local and national police and military personnels that can be used to intimidate our Cambodian innocent people at any given times it wants
. CPP has all of the Mafia group, gansters, and the crooks on its team for any actionalble items on their black lists
. Kem Sokha 's HRP, which is rumored to be side with the CCP, could take some votes for SRP from 2008
Thus, SRP needs to work very hard to get through this 2008 election. His party may gain some seats at the Natianal Assembly, but may not 50 + 1 seat as he hopes for.
Congratulation for being reelected again Mr. Sam. You are my last hope for making Cambodia as a better place for our people to live. So far we are so tired of Royalist and Communist because they just grasp the power for themselves. We always support you; optimistically you will run the country follow the democracy standard.

Congratulation Mr. Sam Rainsy for your re-election in to the leadeship again. It seems that your re-lection through party congress was just a democratically rubber stamp to legalise your position whic you firmly hold.
My most concern is the appointment of Mr. Chhay Eng as steering committee representative. He is a gambler, corrupt, and nepotist. He will certainly intefer into the General Secretary's affair which will affect the Party's operation.

It doesn't matter how many thousand more congratulatory comments posted on this medium, Sam Rainsy will be Sam Rainsy, Tioulong Saumura will be Tioulong Saumura, Eng Chhay Eang will be Eng Chhay Eang, Mu Sochua will be Mu Sochua and Son Chhay will be Son Chhay for the rest of their lives. Politically speaking, these people share such common and negative traits as greed, arrogance, irresponsibility, selfishness, stubbornness, narrow-mindedness, autocracy and uncaring particularly about national policies and public interests. Under the leadership of this bunch of lunatics, the SRP will stay the same. Worse still, the SRP is heavily infested by CPP agents who are directly answerable to the well-known valet of Hanoi Hun Sen. Therefore, it's safe to say that the SRP is sold to Hun Sen particularly since its president Sam Rainsy returned to Phnom Penh on February 10, 2006, after living more than a year in France as self-imposed exile.
Folks, do you know what Hun Sen did to Ranariddh's wife Mary in order to push Ranariddh with his head down into the deepest gorge of humiliation? Just do a bit of research and you will know what was going on between Hun Sen and Mary. Now, Eng Chhay Eang is doing exactly the same to Tioulong Saumura as Hun Sen did to Mary.
