The son of a general, who is a young strongman, was arrested by the police and sent to jail. The young strongman’s modern car was also confiscated by the police in the afternoon of 24 October 2007 at the Monument of Independence park, near Hun Sen’s villa. The arrest was made after Soy Sopheap, a reporter for the CTN TV station and the manager of the Deum Ampil newspaper, complained about being threatened by the young strongman when he started shouting with a loudspeaker from inside his car. Oung Vanna, the arrested young strongman, is the son of 3-star Navy general Oung Somkhan. However, the young strongman was released after 2 hours following an intervention from the young strongman’s (powerful) father with Soy Sopheap. The threat pronounced by the young strongman was made after the CTN station broadcasted a report by Soy Sopheap in the morning of 22 October 2007 regarding the anarchy created by young hoodlums who fly their motorcycles, or race their cars along city streets. The young strongman drove his car in front of Soy Sopheap’s newspaper office, and shouted through a loudspeaker: “Well ah (derogatory) Soy Sopheap, how strong are you?”

This situation with these young lawless thugs is almost out of control - anyone who lives here will admit they are intimidated by these morons who drive recklessly everyday. They are not tough themselves but rely on their powerful fathers and connections to obtain their "get out of jail quick card". They can smash your car or bike and you will be the one who has to pay for the damage to their cars and motorbikes. It is obscene and the authorities should be embarrased to allow this anarchy to rule the streets. It's not even the policemen's fault as they know they are totally powerless to control these idiots. I just hope the brave journalist from CTN and others who have the balls to take a stand keep up the pressure on making the government do something about this. Yes there are many more important things to worry about but as always it is often the poor and the powerless who suffer most. I can pay for the damage to my car but a poor motodriver or person crossing the road will be beaten up until they pay up - that's if they even survive the crash. It is out of control and a terrible image for the country and its attempts to create a safe environment for tourists and other visitors. Please Governor and other politicians take note of this situation and do something about it. If everyone says enough is enough then the situation can improve.

That is a tough issue to crack in a poor country, 3:58. It is a lot easier for people to avoid them (idiots). They are not Khmer, and I don't care what anyone say.

Motor driver's liciense should reflects from this point.

Actually, we don't need liciense instead inforce the law. The young man must be punished a lot more than its shown.

Samdach Hun Sen maybe aware of this. He should order his subordinates to recall the young man back to be tial.

When you have a low class leaders lead the country, that's what you get as a result. Peasant becomes the head of state and the educated people becomes the peasant.

Don't bother to ask the khmer stupid government to act. They're so stupid and low class people themselves. They don't know what the law is.

Joum Teav Khmer women with the rich or govenment husbands need to be addressed as Joun Teav or Nak Srey with a bunch of servants around them. These Joum Teav Hen Hourch never learned a lesson from Khmer Rouge era. I don't give a shit to these kinds of title and I won't respect or call them with the stupid title.

These Joum Teavs know only to open her underwear.

They let their son or daughters run around terrorizing the streets to keep fear in the people and power to the government. Its all about psychology.

Hey, that is what you get when you copy everything from the west. So stop complaining, will ya?

Lock him up and demote the father too!

Anonymous said...

This is where the current regime needs to act. Take actions first against the bad guys of their peers, give good examples to the public if they really work for the sake of the nation!

Yes, and the first think they must do is to get rid of the westerner trained morons who brought evilsm in to our holly soil.
