Prime minister criticized using very strong words against the former recording aid of King-Father Norodom Sihanouk, during the peace negotiation held in 1987.

During a speech given at the (Banhchos seyma) inauguration of the Obolkiri pagoda temple (also known as the Tuol Sambuor pagoda), Samdach Dek Cho Hun Sen reminded about the 02 December which is the 29th anniversary of the formation of the United Front for the National Salvation of Kampuchea and also the 20th anniversary of the Hun Sen-Sihanouk peace negotiation held in Fer-en-Tardenois, France.

Hun Sen said that the Sihanouk-Hun Sen tribune is a historical event that cannot be erased or hidden. (However,) some who are nothing more than a recording aid during the event wants to promote themselves to be at the same level as Hun Sen, and he even wanted to replace his father’s duty. Hun Sen revealed that his speech can lead people to understand that some wanted to become as the father of national unification.

Hun Sen said that this recording aid was nothing more that an official holding the same rank as Cham Prasidh, who was then Hun Sen’s recording aid. “Don’t boast yourself as being equal to the Peace father, don’t do it. You are nothing but a recording aid, then you nominate yourself as the father, there is only one father, that’s Samdech Norodom Sihanouk, but you are elevating yourself way too much. I’m saying this, it’s not to insult you, but you are betraying history,” Hun Sen claimed. Hun Sen added: “You elevated yourself back and forth until you totally disappeared, this is what we called betrayal of historical truth.”

Although Hun Sen did not name the person whom he was referring to, other than saying that he was King-Father’s recording aid, news analysts believe that he was aiming at Prince Norodom Ranariddh who is currently living in Malaysia.

It should be noted that during the peace negotiation between Hun Sen, then the representative of the People’s Republic of Kampuchea (PRK), with Samdech Norodom Sihanouk, the representative of the tri-partite resistance movement, Prince Norodom Ranariddh also participated in this negotiation as well.
