A public forum on “beer girls and legal protection” was organized on 05 December, with the financial support from USAID. The Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper reported that this forum was participated by about 600 beer girls working for 4 companies: Henneken, Tiger, Guinness, and Angkor. The forum was organized to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the 16 day fight against violence on women, the elimination of discrimination which tends to consider these women as sex and pleasure workers, and to provide the understanding of the livelihood of beer girls in society. The forum includes a question-response session with the intervention from various organizations, women, and there were also distribution of prizes as well.

It is sad to call them Beer Girls. Can some come up with a better term? They are not making from beer.

They are there to serve customers per their boss direction. They waiter or waitress just like other peoples work in the restaurants. It is a job and can be a profession.

Men or women went to restaurant to get the food or drink served in professional matter.
I respect them in a way that earns their living with their own blood and sweat. It is not like some working the government

If you do not like Beer Girls how about old name " Srey Lance " or " Beer promotional agent".

But hard to ask the whole country to say your way!

we didn't decided to call them "Beer girl". They did that themselves. It started out with Beer company paying them money to help selling beer. So some of them decided to used their figure to help them to sell beer, and that is how the name "beer girl" came from.
