The emergence in Vietnam of commercial footwear with the picture of Ankor Wat on the padding has sparked a round of political finger-pointing between provincial authorities and the opposition party.
The sandals, which have an outline of Angkor Wat’s famous spires and Khmer writing, appeared at a market in Tai Ninh, Vietnam, across the border from Svay Rieng province, and Cambodian authorities have blamed the opposition Sam Rainsy Party for their production.
“It’s not Vietnam who marketed the shoes, but it’s probably from the opposition or any group who would raise it up in order to...stir up controversy,” said Leuk Chamreoun, deputy chief of the Svay Rieng provincial police.
Sam Rainsy called the allegations “ridiculous.”
“How can the party be so powerful that it reaches Vietnam?” he said. “No one believes this.”
Angkor Wat, a cultural touchstone for many Cambodians, has in the past stirred nationalistic violence.
In 2003, rumors that a Thai actress made disparaging remarks about Angkor Wat sparked citywide riots in Phnom Penh that left the Thai Embassy burned and gutted and Thai businesses looted and destroyed.

find out who make them and sue them.
This has to be the work of CPP and nobody else. They have so much tactic under their sleeve.
god, I can't stand anyone who suggest Cambodia people to fight one another. what kind of leader this is?. leader supposes to unit the people, educate the people to get along, think about the development and preservation of the nation, safe guard national interest and so on; not the opposite. so this comment has no meaning, and don't claim yourself to be the leader of Khmer. they will vote you out. this is 21st century cambodia, not the dark ages. thanks
Stop pointing the fingers and get this issue resolved. You folks are like child, instead of working to close resolve this issue you are blaming each other.
There is no incentive for SRP to do this...blackmailing is a crime and SRP would not take this chance...It's sold in VN and that's where the investigation should start...
Get It Done!!!
And we should read this news from Bankok Post as well
(Unfortunately this has nothing with the sandals, but our heritages)

WORLD HERITAGE LISTING PREAH VIHEAR
Army warns dispute could have repercussions
WASSANA NANUAM
The Defence Ministry is concerned about Cambodia's tough stance on seeking World Heritage listing of Preah Vihear, the ancient Khmer ruins on the Thai-Cambodian border. Defence Ministry spokesman Pichasanu Putchakarn said Cambodia has ignored the government's suggestion the two countries jointly propose the historical site for Unesco listing.....
Because the sanctuary is perched atop a hill, entry has to be made from a point on the Thai side of the border.
The road's construction should be put off until the two countries have settled the demarcation issue, Lt-Gen Sujit said. ...
He said Cambodian soldiers had been deployed along the border zones leading to the sanctuary.
He had ordered his troops deployed to police the border as well....
It's sad, isn't it? Instead trying to find the source of problem for the national symbol, they turned it into political and pointed fight figers each other. Like the gentleman before said; what kind of the leader is that?
Big deal, fuck it, sue shit!
Go for the real thing! Bring back:
-Ankor watt.
- Ruber platations.
- monk tim sakhorn.
You so stupid Hun Xen ! Ma fucking PHD!
Ah Chkuot Hun Sen.
Puok Ah Chkuot CPP.
Ah Kor Mi Chaun!
Fother Mucker!
CPP and Vietnamese are good at using disinformation. Making it seem as if Sam Rainsy's Party is responsible, that way the people of Cambodia will hate SRP. In time of the election, they are trying to anchor off the voting ahead of the election. Someone should find evidence that the CPP is responsible for this.
Hello All,
Viet Nam should have reponsibity on this issue. Because, It started from Viet Nam contry.Ortherwise, We can also do same thing, but put Ho Chi Minh picture on it, instead of Angkor picture. I think it 's fair to do so.
Now, look at cambodian goverment, the top leaders always ignor the problem whatever related to their friend(VN)They are brave to bite ony their own citizens.Almost every singl officers carry Viet Namese blood.
Thank you all,
We should be precaution with this issue. The Vietnamese and their Hun Sen puppet are very skillful arsonists. Like the case of Chea Vichea murder and granade attack on the SRP peaceful demonstration. the real perpetrators were free, and the inocent people were in Jail.
Tricky monkey. The monkey stole the food and paste it on the goat's mouth. The cpp is the monkey. I still remember during the riot to burn down Thai embassy, the cpp did it but accused that SRP behind it. It is the same story again.
free speech sux doesn't it.
Driven by small economic interest, the sellers and importers should be fined, or worse, jailed for their recklessness!!
Free speech justification does not prevail here. We have a compelling interest in preserving image of Angkor Wat. The insult of the our national symbol would result in chaos and violence. So we have higher call to prevent such a insult from happening.
The CPP are the first to point fingers, they are so suspect, its true they will not waste a single second to try and solve this, right away they accuse the SRP. That tells us a lot about the ruling party, that they are notorious for making shit up and pointing fingers falsifying the evidence and fucking things up. The finger that is pointed by the CPP probably had something to do with making the sandals. CPP Stop being a BITCH and start being a real man and actually SOLVE a fucking case for ones unless you are the perpitrators. Everyone already knows CPP are all vermin yuon filth.
Folks,
Do not lose sleep over this.Do you know Viet or Siam play you like a violin in evry moment they have doubt in Cambod posture.
Sihanouk will solve this alone while he already endorse Viet Latex products in promoting unbreakable comdom branding Banteay Srei??? Go check them out...how it works
fuck khmer coward
you steal everything from thai and said they belong to khmer, for example, the preah viharn that is belong to thai now the khmer claim it is theirs
and now khmer thinks they can fight against our strong army
everyone in the world knows that the khmer arm forces are one of the most outdated and useless so why think of war
khmer should think smart, at least during this critical period of conflict
Khmer civilized the mountain Siams, China civilized the criminal Yuons. Fuck Siam and Yuon FILTH, both for thinking otherwise you inferior subhumans, there is no gratitude or respect that comes out of their mouths, only shit, that is why we dont respect them. If all you think about is warring with other nations, then life is meaningless, much like Siam and Yuon culture and nature.
These thing it should be getting to our head.during khmer rought time our own barbaric people were piss on poop on and shoot at.we should be worrie more about lands being lost to ah youn-and siame.beside Angkor now are beautiful!!"ANANIKUM AMERICA RULES!"
