Son Chhay: "....we have always reminded times and again that if the Prime Minister continues to violate the laws, and refuse to review all his wrongdoings, in our capacity as members of parliament, we will apply our legal measures.
Prime Minster Hun Sen has rejected the opposition party’s request on Thursday by declaring that he will still continue to appoint all defectors from various parties who defected to this own party to government positions.

Speaking to hundreds of supporters in Lvea Em district, Mr Hun Sen appealed to other officials from various parties to defect to his Cambodian People’s Party and assured them that they will be appointed to various government positions.

The Prime Minister said in reference to the opposition: “Everything is a problem, it never satisfies you…everything (I’ve done) is wrong. Now, if anyone dare to defect, I will appoint them again. If you are the members of the Steering Committee all of you will be appointed as advisors to the government. You (the opposition) are not more important than the nation. If the government can make good use of them, no problem. This time, it is my right and it is not your right.”

Mr. Hun Sen’s speech was made after the opposition MP, Mr. Son Chhay, appealed to the Prime Minister to stop appointing anymore ministers or secretaries of state immediately. He charged that such appointments are squandering the national budget which can affect the good governance, in violations of the rights of other political parties and are in violations of the nation’s laws.

Mr. Son Chhay said: “Political parties and the government are separate entities. So I would like to remind the Prime Minister that he should not be confused with the administrative structure of the People’s Republic of Kampuchea regime and the administrative governing structure of the present royal government where after 1993 we have a new constitution. That’s why we have always reminded times and again that if the Prime Minister continues to violate the laws, and refuse to review all his wrongdoings, in our capacity as members of parliament, we will apply our legal measures.”

The exchanges in regard to this matter occurred following many defections from the Sam Rainsy Party and the Funcinpec Party to the Cambodian People’s Party and all the defectors have been appointed as advisors to the government or to the Prime Minister himself, with the rank of ministers or secretaries of state of the present government.

According to opposition officials, at present, without providing the exact figures, they estimated that there are thousands of advisors. So they request the government to send the lists of those advisors to the parliament.

Officials from the civil societies have also expressed the same view that the appointments of so many unnecessary advisors will squander the national budget as well as creating political problems.

The Khmer Rouge spirit still lives within Hun Sen. He is low educated but bold, very bold in doing wrong things. How a country can move foreward with such a terrible leader. I demand Mr. Hun Sen to step down for the sake of millions of Khmers. It's such a big ambarrassment for srok Khmer. Get down and move over, Sen. Whatta hell's a matter with U duck?

I am a CPP party member and I am very pissed as hell and I have yet to see Hun Sen gives more position as advisor to other CPP members. Why Hun Sen only concerned more about the defectors or the traitors from other parties than the CPP members?

Hun Sen owed the CPP members an explanation for his action!

You would have to be selfishly stupid and extremely idiotic to defect to Hun Sen just to get a useless gov position as an advisor. You are not helping our nation, so no matter what anyone says, defectors are traitors who have joined the Vietnamese in destroying our nation.

Isn't he the one who proposed a law forgiving the PM from past violations to encourage short term hold of office?

Hun Sen and his cronies are using "rejecting policy" to frighten and manipulate Cambodian peoples who are poor and less educated.

For instance, the insulting of UN's representatives, Global Witness, and recently Amnesty International that this is unthinkable for Hun Sen's regime to denounce those neutral organizations.

However, recent stead-headed responding to Son Chhay is another failure of Hun Sen's administration.

You have done a great job, Mr. Son Chhay, for the sake of millions of Cambodian people, we are strongly standing with you to strengthen the "rule of laws" in the nation-state of Cambodia.

All these Cambodian guys, the defectors, are pure opportunists. The think only of their prestige but not the fate of the nation. Get rid of those men once and for all. Hun Sen is no brainer and he can't think in a logical terms in a high political level. But he thinks like a soldiers who can even read and write well. Wonder how he has the grib to cling to that high post and no one can pull him down.

When an idiot get into power, he will try to hang on to it. He doesn't know when it right or wrong, or when it time to stop his madness. So wrong becomes right, right is only him.

Its now like a cancer. Hun sen is a cancer in cambodia, He needed to be treated ! one way or another.

Re-educating won't help. Destroying this cancer will!

To 6:37 AM,

To pull Hun Sen down from his current position when he got assassinated. It is simple. A Jungle guy must be treated with a jungle law. Here the key point, there are rumors among CPP members that Hun Sen must be very careful and potentially targeted for assassination. Do you believe me? Wait and See.

Those poor defectors, you are a khme. You been surviving KR time, why do you decide to end your life here? for what? I'm sure for money but money is not the end of the world. Without your life you can not enjoy money. I remind you to review the example of Mr. PUN PHEAP !!!

this is a good example why in the USA, we don't allow people to hold office more than two terms. and we, americans, don't like people who have family members to run office continually. this is obvious to avoid this kind of power hunger or dictatorship because these things are not good the capitalist economies. i can see why some people label this power hunger a dictator because in a free economy, there is no dictatorship, no family-run only leadership, etc, etc. now i can see why some oppositon party people label the currrent gov't in cambodia as such. talking about power grabs. there ought to be a law to make the job of the prime minister of cambodia very, very hard, so no one in there greedy mind would want it!

this is a good example why in the USA, we don't allow people to hold office more than two terms

Not many countries on this globe do that [restricted 2 2 terms in office] and those countries that so practiced and that I can think of at this meantime are USA and France.

Most commonwealth countries [member of the British] has never limited on term in the office, such as Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand Etc... the PM can run for many terms as long long his/her party still supports him/her.

Instead of presenting polical agenda to pursuate voters, Mr. Hun Sen fooled them with a government position. Is it practiced here in the USA. If not, one who stands for a fair election must interfeer and stop Mr. Hun Sen from being defected.
