Political activists who have moved to join the ruling party in Kampong Thom and Takeo provinces have received threatening phone calls insulting them for leaving the opposition, the prime minister said Monday.
Hun Sen said during a Buddhist pagoda inauguration in Prey Veng province that a former commune council member from the Sam Rainsy Party in Barei district, Kampong Thom province, fled her home after a threat.
The activist, Tim Norn, said she had gone to the UN human rights office in Phnom Penh to complain about threats, by local Sam Rainsy Party provincial activists.
She alleged they called her and threatened her after she moved to the Cambodian People's Party in February.
Thon Rithy, a Sam Rainsy Party activist in Barei district, denied he threatened Tim Norn, calling her claims "untrue." The Sam Rainsy Party endorses political freedom, he said, wishing her good fortune with her new party.
A second defector, Ros Serey Udom, who moved from the Sam Rainsy Party to the ruling party Sunday, said Monday he received a threat from an unidentified caller, who called him "lazy" and "stupid" for joining the Cambodian People's Party.
District police in each province said they had not received victims' complaints over the threats but would investigate the cases.

Hun Sen and his CPP gangs have known nothing about the progressive politics for Cambodian nation. The monopoly policy of Hun Sen and his cronies create only weakness for Cambodia as whole.
National official positions and assets have been used to eliminate opposition party. The history of Cambodian politics will record all these evil political behaviors.
SRP's members have high price higher than the present commodities price in the market. This is the success of SRP.
SRP will not be weak through this few political opportunists.
Hun Sen and his cronies are moving in a shameful political agenda.

Sam rainsy begins panicking to see his men pass to the PPC, and begins him also to employ the method of the dictators and extremist.
Sam rainsy is a democrat, this is just to do laughing the young poeple, that is all !
To Khmer Young, Don't be stupid all the time to criticise just one Party.
I used to like SRP. But their party on the ground are rubbish and they creat lot of problems. I know it because I work on ground more often. Only couple of SRPs are good from the top, but very weak on the ground.
When they don't have power, they just want to creat turmoil and blackmail the government.
Nothing perfect in this world or Cambodia.
Two preferences for you to choose when you said about non-perfection:
1. Choose to strengthen SRP
2. Or choose to join CPP to strengthen dictatorship (one party country)
SRP is better than other parties...it is far beyond. Through the intention of Hun Sen to eliminate SRP, if this party is really weak like what you said, it will be melt like a piece of salt in the ocean.
But it is not, and this party is going to become the government party as well. It is challenging with stupid policy of Hun Sen.
Let see the power and wisdom of Cambodian peoples.

Well, right now the country needs Autocratic government to get all of the basic things moving fast and done with, and later we can reform. That is how it is done around the globe.
The CPP has evil spirit to divide and publicize others for their own gain. For years not much has happening but a few months before election roads are being paved, threats and fears are being spread, promises being made; only stupid fools would believe it will be fulfill. This is not the free world democracy, it's Cambodia democracy with HUN SEN the leader.

You are right. Sam Rainsy party uses the method of threatening or dictatorship like CPP too.

OMG, SRP threating everyone in the country! The notorious killer must be stopped immediately.
The Sam Rainsy defectors enjoy all the milk and honey from the CPP and for dirt poor Cambodian people is something that need to be left behind by the defectors because to associate with the poor can bring real shame...and I just found out that no rich Cambodian people and corrupted Cambodian leaders want to be associated with dirt poor Cambodian people!
I was surprised that some of these Sam Rainsy defectors even said that they joined the Sam Rainsy Party for 10 years and they are going nowhere and still poor! So tell me did AH HUN SEN deny the defectors to become rich or Did Sam Rainsy denies the defectors to become rich? Well!
AH HUN SEN dictatorship system provided that only a few selected people to become rich as long they work and support him. But the Sam Rainsy democratic system demand that all Cambodian people to participate to become rich base on individual ambition! That is why Sam Rainsy is pushing for anti-corruption law, pushing for the Cambodian constitution as the law of the land, pushing for independent court system, pushing for independent military from joining the political group...
Cambodia is being too easy on AH HUN SEN because AH HUN SEN know that for a dictator like him to exist in Cambodia and Cambodian central government must remain weak as possible otherwise a dictator like him wouldn't stand a chance!
5 more years of AH HUN SEN in power will only make Cambodian people 5 more years less rich!

Nope, Cambodian are not in deep shit. They generally doing pretty well, except for a few.
And who said that our economy is on the downturn? It is still undergo exponential growth. The high fuel price will effected it a little but it will not be a "show stopper", plus we are currently learn to conserve energy to further minimized its impact. What more do you want, huh?
