Just like the US president-elect, Cambodia’s two politicians promote change to launch their new movement.
On Thursday morning, Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha officially announced the birth of the Democratic Movement for Change (DMC), borne out of the alliance of their respective political parties. The event took place at the SRP headquarters, under the presence of about 20 MPs, party activists and numerous journalists.
Answering to question about the type of change this alliance wish to bring in, Sam Rainsy explained that this word should be understood “in a broad sense, recalling that Barack Obama’s slogan during the last US presidential election was: ‘The change we need’, we want to change society which, currently, is filled with injustice and corruption.”
“Our ambition is to propose an alternative choice to the citizens, either they want the communist party where [state] lands are being sold and deforestation takes place, or the democrats and freedom,” Kem Sokha, HRP President, summarized.
Kem Sokha and Sam Rainsy called on their respective party activists to start collaborating with each other in view of the upcoming election.

There should have been leadership training to build up strength in each individual party in order to maintain and sustain the intended Movement.
Leadership Training in all levels.

I strongly agree with your saying that every political leaders in Cambodia must bt trained in leadership skills. Otherwise, they will work to ruine people's live because they are much sticked to nepotism and partisan.

I'm very glad that they at last come to an agreement to form an alliance. It's our duty to care about the welfare of our people whose abilities are very limitted. They totally depend on the brilliant leadership of their leaders. Leaders are just like parents whose moral qualities are kindness, sympathy, compassion and care for their dependants. We are human beings (not objects) living in the modern world that is developing everyday and so is our state of mind. We do not need rulers whose personal qualities including levels of education are like those who ruled Cambodia a century ago; therefore, we deserve to have decent leaders with a better education and decency.
No surprise, the traitors always inspire by their Goddess, and everything that is Khmer is always evil.
To 11:52PM, it's a big mistake if you compare the OEUNS of Sangkum Khmer (Ni)Yum to the DMC. You got to look at the qualities of the OEUNS first; I know them inside out because they are living in my neighborhood.
I've met,spoke and even had dinner with these individuals. The only change they want is more loose change for their bank account.
If they want to prove corruption: they need to make their financial statement public, just like politicians in the US.
If both of you put down Khmer hation as a first priority you will win.
If you both decided of power sharing is the number ONE you will not beat CPP.

I am a CPP living in Phnom Penh. I am so happy to see the opposition merge together. Though, I am CPP and would like to see changes in government too. Cause people getting poorer and poorer.
As you all know everyone elses in Phnom Penh would like to see changes too in near future.

I am very gladed to see these two democrate leaders have decided to work together. I am also strongly support them for a change. Without a change Cambodia will be in danger without notice as the fabric of Cambodian society is now completely broken only because of the power of moneys. These two leaders need also find good advisors and good people to work around them to make their determination will succeed. They have also needed to change their foreign policy with China too. To succeed as a government of Cambodia, a political party need to understand the global politic affecting Cambodia. They need funds for their campaigns therefore, they need for friends from inside and outside. If they become a government, they need to replace ten of thousands of crooked individuals out from their positions. They need to look at the present slavery salaries paid by the present government to all public servants from police, soldiers, public health people, educational personal such as teachers, professors and court officials. First he tries to downplay the successes of Western democracy and badmouth about Westerners, and now that his arguments getting weak or losing ground, he is posting as a white man. Any smart person who has lived long enough among white people would tell you that white people generally do not go around and brag or shamelessly write about bad things they do in life. DMC would be the successful political movement if:
1. These two parties have built under a strong base, that Hun Sen cannot "divide and conquar", or this alliance is not easily split out...
2. Built upon a very effective policy such as prioritizing on academic researching, keep close to middle class people, and can make favor for many CPP's members to join your movement.
3. Being long-sighted and open-minded leadership....
Merging these two into one, including many CPP's patriotic leaders are the "win-win strategy".

when the strategic methods of cpp are clearly seen, why don't the parties provides leadership skills to most of their followers?
1) when cpp notice the alliance is strong and solid, cpp will buy out key members by bribing with money and positions...and say if there are too many how can cpp buy all of them?
2)when followers of opposition parties are capable and wise by leadership training and decent job skills equiped by the parties, you think those followers will have two heads or easy to buy out? that's not for sure. We call it--individual conscience with proper and advanced education and they cannot also be buy out too. those followers will stay loyal thanks to parties that open their eyes, mind and brain and they can also become good citizens--and that can be good example and role models given birth by the party!
