Chea Mony, President of the Free Trade Union of Workers in the Kingdom of Cambodia (FTUWKC) called for a demonstration to protest the firing of union representatives in a number of factories. Chea Mony told reporters in the morning of 25 March that Cambodia, just like any other countries in the world, is facing with financial crisis, Cambodian factories have closed their door one after another, and some factories were firing workers for no justified reason. He added that, up until now, 19 representatives of the workers who are also union representatives were fired, and their firing did not respect the labor law rules. He claimed that he will lead a mass strike in the entire country in order to protest the firing of union representatives. Chea Mony did not indicate the exact date of this demonstration yet, but he indicated that it will be held soon. Regarding this planned demonstration, the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper said that it could not contact Touch Naroth, the Phom Penh police commissioner, to obtain his reaction because nobody picked up his phone.

Watch out! after Khmer New Year most of factories will close. They (the owners) do not dare to inform now as it will involve heavy payment to workers.

They will use holiday break to let workers laid off easily. Workers then will see their factory closed and it's already too late....

Or--should I dare to say this is a good time for "looting preparation" as a pay-back time?

See what I mean? Pouk Ah Scam Rainxy has no respect for the law. They love to take thing into their own hand. If the business did something against the law, they should file a complaint with the court.

yeah and then the courts would take the business' side as always cos they have the money to pay the bribes!

Why your people like to flight each other. Peace may come if we respect and excuse each other. People are treated equality in society. The real peace is peace in mind. People normally have different idea on one thing. But those idea are useful all but in different situation. So why your people can't you solidate together.

You have to accept that we have today because of we have CPP and government, but without having 1993 agreement, civil society groups, and opposition party we may not have today too.

Even so, 4:38, in civilized society, if the court misjudge the complain, they should challenge the court, not the business owner.

it's ok for him to do this. this is a sign of real democracy in cambodia. look, thailand has more demonstrations on the planet then cambodia, so, why are we (cambodia) so surprised when it comes to a mass demonstration. remember, we all can do from everybody, enemies or not. everyone learns from everybody else all the time. it's the happening everywhere. so it is totally fine to do so. don't feel bad about it as it is not a new concept on the planet at all! god bless cambodia.
