On Monday 20 April, Hun Sen commented on the scholar works completed by military science graduates at the Chaktokmouk conference center.
Twenty officers received their PhDs and Masters in military science from the Vietnamese army, including Pol Saroeun, the RCAF chief of staff, and Kun Kim, his deputy. The degrees were delivered in the presence of Hun Sen.
On this occasion, Hun Sen commented on the topics selected by the graduating students for their final research work while noting that some of them were working on the defense strategy, in particular, in regions No. III, IV and IV, along the border with Thailand.
“These theses were written on these regions, where from now on, defense is in the news,” Hun Sen stressed while referring to the border conflict in Preah Vihear.
“When one read these works, one can see that Cambodia has no will to aggress its neighbors,” Hun Sen added. “Now, I ask the officers to put their research to work for Cambodia’s defense.”

How long did Pol Saroeun study in Vietnam? I thought he's been in Cambodia all the time. Did he just turn in his theses to get the degree?
Did he learn some strategies to protect the Khmer border with Vietnam? Too bad that Vietnam did not teach him strategies to invade another country.
I bet he's been brainwashed like those Khmer Viet Minh during the Vietnam War. Hun Sen needs to be careful. These generals are keeping an eye on Hun Sen. One wrong move means dead meat.

My beloved citizens,
I am disappointed to read your comments because they don’t offer any practical ideas other than make our race look inferior to the youn race. This is not a way that inspires our younger generations. You should say something or offer some intelligent ideas that can motivate or educate our people to become stronger and smarter.
Frankly, I don’t oppose the idea of our military staff learning from the yuons. If someone is teaching you some basic skill that you don’t know, then you should do your best to learn from that person. Furthermore, if you work hard enough you will become better in the subject matter than then person who teaches you. Think about it!
It is quite obvious that youn’s true intention is not to teach, but to spy our military commanders. They want to know exactly how our commanders will react to a specific battle situation, or establish an overall defense strategy. They teach our commanders certain tactics and want to see how our commanders would employ those tactics in the battlefield so that their military can outmanoeuvre ours should a hostility occurs.
The message that we should send to all our military commanders attending or who will attend youn military schools is the following: When working on case studies or writing thesis, don’t say or write what you have in mind. Youns can read your thesis as much as they want, but they can NEVER read your mind. “Your mind is our best weapons/defense”. Never let youns know what you have in mind. While at youn military school, try to act like a dummy or clown to fool the youns That’s how our ancestor saved our race from extinction by the siams and youns in the past.
Remember one of our old sayings: “ Trey ngeat chleat pong” – there is an opportunity in every bad situation.

Your master will ONLY teach the minimal.... just for you to get by.
For every strategies that they teach; they'd already set aside a plan to counter-attack it.
Remember, your master already know your next move before you act.

actually, by nature, ignorance makes a person brave and fearless. in khmer, there are lots of useful phrases or proverbs to help guide people. one of them is the phrase " lee bombong kat psah" or the story of "kong hean", the brave but ignorant farmer who led a local battle, however his victory was a result of his ignorance because he poop and pee in his pants which not only cause unpleasant odor for the enemies, they aggravate the elephant he was riding on to charge in full force toward frontline, thus resulted in his victory. man, how interesting khmer folklores get sometimes. please study khmer literature and folklores as they are very interesting indeed. god bless cambodia.
